Some South Sudanese are sick of fallacy, stereotype, egocentrism and prejudices. As the result of these intellectual sicknesses, they are blind to see white from black, truth from lie.  Above all, they do not differentiate between the truth telling and sycophancy.

The truth , they don’t want to hear is the praise that President Salva Kiir deserves as the ‘’Symbol of Liberation’’  .if you mention this truth and  because of playing  politics , they call you a sycophant .

Naturally, Salva Kiir is  a good man. I first saw him in Ashwa Displaced Camp in 1993, When a Dinka Bor man shot dead two Dinka Bare el gazal youth  . The killing of these two men almost provoke a dangerous communal fighting between Bor and Bare el gazal . All us know  Dinka Bare el gazal  are   half lawless people .but  Cdr Kiir  quelled  down the  anger  .  This was the first achievement of Kiir I witnessed.

In 1996, the enemies of liberation struggle created a myth,’’ Dinka Bor was born to rule and Dinka Bare el gazal was born to die in front line’’ .  This issue almost caused division among the SPLM/A  but Cdr Kiir stepped in  and chided  Dinka Bare el gazal leaders who were fanning that meaningless  mythology .  This was second achievement of Salva Kiir , I witnessed

In reality , Salva Kiir contributed  80% to the  success of Dr .  John Garang  in term of human capital . When Kerbino  Kuanyin Bol rebelled against the SPLM/A in 1980s , Salva Kiir stood with John Garang  and this gave  Garang  upper hand ,  otherwise,   if  Salva Kiir would  have joined hands with Kerbino Kuanyin , SPLM/A would  have not succeeded under John Garang as we have seen with the  independence of South Sudan  today ,  because majority of SPLA soldiers were Dinka Bare el gazal , however , as the result of division ,  they were divided between Kiir and Kuanyin and Kiir commanded more than Kuanyin.  This was his third achievement of Salva Kiir  I heard of

In 1995, when the issue of ‘’Dinka Bare el Gazal  are majority in frontline and Dinka Bor have abandoned the war and  resorted to business in  Agoro and Koboko in Uganda ‘’ , Salva Kiir came in  and rebuked Bol Madut  of that .

In fact , Bol Madut challenged Kuol Manyang Juuk in Nimule  to go with him to Ashwa contention  to count , how many Dinka Bor soldiers are there in frontline .

This prompted Cdr Kuol Manyang Juuk to mobilize only Dinka  Bor men in May 1995 at  Nimule Corridor  but Kiir came in and stopped that tribal or clannish mobilization of soldiers.  This was the four achievement of Salva Kiir I witnessed.

In 1983 , when SPLM/A  was formed , Salva Kiir was one of the five pantheons who sat and  formed it .And,  these pantheons  are Dr John Garang de Mabior , Kerbino Kuanyin Bol , William Nyuon Bany , Salva Kiir and Arok Thon Arok .  This was fifth achievement of Kiir   I heard of.

Therefore , I can say Salva Kiir is  the living symbol of the liberation struggle   For  that reason  ,  Kiir  must be respected  because his achievements  outweigh his  failures ,  he should not be rubbished like a dog as they  are doing in name of  false reform agenda.

For above reasons I tell you ‘’Salva Kiir is living symbol of liberation struggle ’’   what is sycophancy about it  ? Is he not living symbol?  Has he not achieved what am saying? If you are jealous   of Kiir achievements  , then be it .  .

Mind you , Salva Kiir contributed  80% to success of John Garang ,  Salva Kiir stood with John Garang  100% when  Riek was against  Garang ,  Therefore , the  degree of support Kiir gave  to Garang , the same degree of support to be given to Kiir  by all South Sudanese

Mind you , Dinka Bare el gazal are loose and lawless people, if Kiir was not controlling  them in 21 year war ,  they would have destroyed the SPLM/A long time ago . They would have abandoned SPLM/A as Riek  Machar  and his lawless loyalists abandoned SPLM,A  and  went to Khartoum  in  1994 .

Imagine in Yei Crisis  in 2003, if it were not  Kiir controlling themselves , those of Garang Mabil would have started the fighting .

Unlike Riek Machar , who failed to control Brigadier  Lam  and Brigadier Kuac of Tiger  Division , who started the December 15 fighting in Juba .

In fact , Salva Kiir is RIGHT MAN but he has no tongue to express his RIGHTEOUSNESS  , he is a victim of  prejudices , Because of prejudices ,  if he is not careful ,  he would be like two former Africans presidents  in the history  . These are   Presidents   Milton Obote of Uganda and   President Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana .

President Obote was the one who declared Uganda Independence from Britain in 1963 ,  but he was overthrew from power and died in exile.

President Nkrumah was the one who declared Ghana Independence e but in the name of false reform , he was overthrew and died in exile .

This is what fake reformers are trying to do in South Sudan . First, they have assassinated Kiir character in their white, negative propaganda. so Kiir is now evil and they are angels . Secondly, they are now pushing him out to die in exile like Obote and Nkrumah .

However , ‘’What goes around,  come around’’ , if the so-called reformers  were not  the one who destroyed  South Sudan with Kiir for 8 good years ,blessed are them  but if they contributed to the failure of South Sudan with Kiir in one way or another  then they will also taste the fruit of curse of  their contributions  to the  failure of  South Sudan . Mark my words.

Chapter Eleven

After Abuk  Deng, Madut had been marrying other three wives the following three years. They were Amou Malual, Achol Geng and Amear Bil. He gave each woman a herd of cattle as soon as he married her. He built each woman a homestead. He didn’t dig the farms. If he was asked why, he said he was not the son of a farmer or fisherman. He didn’t stay with any of his four homesteads Luak, he stayed in the village chief Luak during daytime and his food was taken to him there.

He pretended as though he wouldn’t love any of his wives yet he was devoted to all  of them in secret. One day he traveled to a black smith who made beads by ostrich egg shells. He bought four beads. He went to Abuk. He gave her one bead. He warned her not to show it to the other three wives. He told her that she was the only woman she loved so much among his wives. He went to the other three wives and gave them beads at different times. As he gave each woman he warned her not to show the other women and that she was the only one woman he loved so much.

One afternoon, Madut’s four women went to collect firewood. Amou and Amear quarreled and they fought. Abuk and Achol separated them and stopped them from fighting.

“I can’t talk with you” Amou said

“Why can’t I talk with you? We are all Madut’s wives” Amear replied.

“Do you think Madut loves you the way he loves me?” Amou asked.

“Yes, madut loves me” Amear answered.

“If he loves you, what has he given you?”

“What about you? What has he given you if he loves you?”

“Madut loves me and he gave me this beautiful bead of an ostrich egg shell” Amou showed her bead

“What about this” Amear showed her bead of ostrich egg shell.

All the four women were surprised by Madut’s trick. Amou was greatly disturbed by this deceiving incident. It was discovered that all four women had the same bead. In that evening, the four women cooked and ate the meal with their four children. Madut moved from home to home and never found food. The following morning, the four wives came to Madut and asked him why he deceived them about the beads. Madut told them that all of them were his wives and he had to treat them equally. All the other wives forgave Madut, but Amou who was boasting about being loved so much never forgave him.

Two months went. Madut put on his feather of glory and with other eighty men went hunting for elephants. An elephant was killed. Hunters were so many that they scrambled over the elephant carcass. As all hunters were naked Madut cut of the testicles of a man called Mareng Lual. Maleng didn’t feel the pain. When the animal finished he fell down dead. The man who cut his testicles was unidentified. Mareng was carried home. Madut took to the meat he brought from hunting to his wife Amou Malual. Amou found the testicles of the man in the meat.

“What is this?” she wondered. She called in her husband Madut and showed the testicles to him.

“That is a man’s testicle” said Madut.

“Who’s?” Amou asked.

“For Mareng Lual.”

“What shall we do?”

“Don’t tell anyone”

Madut buried the testicles. Months passed. Amou beat to death a calf. When madut was about to beat her, she said “I will tell the other secret.” Madut stopped from beating her and walked away very angry.

Amou continued misbehaving and always threatened Madut with the other secret. Amou first born son was very young, she was called Dut.

“Madut had left the home of Amou Malual for the home of Achol Geng for fear that Amou might cause him problems. As it has been said, “there is no good home.” Madut got some problems at Achol’s home again. Madut quarreled with Achol and he beat her violently. The neighbour came and helped Achol from Madut. That very night Madut and Achol went to the hut to sleep. At mid night Achol woke up, she lit a bundle of grass and moved around the hut.

“What are you looking for? You will burn the hut. If you burn the hut I will beat you severely and you will suffer and suffer” Madut said.

“I’m looking for love” Achol said.

“Which love?” Madut asked.

“Our love during engagement. The sweet words you had been telling me. Where are they now?” asked Achol.

“Love is different from stubbornness” said Madut.

“A person you love you can’t beat like this.” Achol said

Chapter Ten

It was the middle of the dry season. All cattle camps had moved to Toc pastures along the great river. It was a habit that young men or girls could not spend the dry season at homesteads. In the village it was hot and dusty since wind blew so much. Those who stayed were poor to endure hot and thirsty conditions.

One evening Madut Kuol had fastened the bundle of horsetail at the tip of white and black bull and a big gong on the neck of the black bull. He drove out two bulls to Abuk Deng’s cattle camp for a night singing. He sang for the whole night. All girls and boys lost their nights sleep to listen to their classic songs. Madut Kuol’s songs talked about beauty of his bull and his engagement girl; beauty and glory of his clan.

In the morning, Abuk Deng and his sisters took the bulls outside the camp for oil anointment ceremony. Madut and his bull were washed with cow butter of in present all including Abuk’s father and brothers. The oil ointment was a sign of girl appreciation of the songs and the men’s gentleness. By this time Madut’s popularity increased because of his songs, his wrestling strength, his bravery in rescuing of abducted children and rustled cattle by the warriors of an enemy tribes.

When all cattle were returned from Toc the greenest pastures to homestead, Madut Kuol announced his plan of marrying Abuk Deng. There are many types of marriage in the Boralian tribe. First and the most important is Riong wedding, in Riong wedding, more than One Hundred cattle were paid as bride price. It is the most expensive one and is for the rich. There is Kenywedding where about thirty to fifty cattle are given as bride price. There is Liec wedding where the girl is impregnated at her father’s home and Kuel wedding where the girl is eloped. All these types take fewer cattle.

Madut and Abuk had chosen Riong type of wedding. The news of Madut Riong spread to all villages. Some two other men tried to compete with Madut for Abuk but they were knocked out of race early. One man was rejected by parents because he was from an evil-eyed family and another one was rejected because he had few cattle. Abuk’s parents chose Madut because of his handsomeness and the many cattle he had.

The Riong wedding was organized with big two dances by Madut’s clan. They danced at Abuk’s home.

After Riong dancing, Abuk remained in her father’s home and her father went to Madut’s cattle camp. Deng the father of Abuk took one hundred and seventy cattle as a bride price for his daughter and four bulls were slaughtered as a wedding meal.

After the cattle were taken, Madut came with two hundred entourages to take his wife-Abuk Deng.

As it was a Riong wedding, the father of Abuk gave a heifer to his son-in-law Madut asAlokthok is a cow given to the son in-law or father in-law as a sign of respect and honour so that he could eat at his in-law’s home. And the father of Abuk gave a fat bull to be eaten by his daughter’s guests.

Before the guests could eat, they lined up for choosing ceremony, where the girl could choose the man as mockery husband they could go and cook food for them. The bride came first.

Abuk came and picked her husband Madut, she was followed by her uncle’s daughter Ayen Nhial who chose her mockery husband. It was a worse ceremony if an ugly girl choose you, you had to refuse her before the crowd. Some girls were crying because they were refused by the men they had chosen. After the choice, the girl could go and cook food and bring it to the man she had chosen.

When the meat had been cooked and all girls had come with their food. Abuk, the bride came with a calabash of meat, she put it in the middle sitting floor. She went straight to her bride groom Madut, held his hand and brought to eat. Each of them (Abuk and Madut) picked a small of meat and ate as a green light for all to eat. Then the two entourages started eating. After the meal, the parent of Abuk came to hand over the bride. Her entourage put this song.

Abuk was wearing a leopard skin and adorned with greenest wedding bead. She walked out on her sitting on mats entourage in great adoration for Madut and his clan. She was holding graceful bending long beautiful white ostrich feather. She talked in an eagletic tone.

“I great you all, all my respected, loved and handsome guests. Madut Kuol has married me with a great wealth – a great wealth of cattle, and I have married him with this feather, The Feather of Glory. And this feather of glory is the only prestigious thing I must honour him on earth” Abuk said as she was putting the ostrich feather on the red ash treated hair of Madut.

You will always wear it wherever and whenever you go for occasion – occasions like dancing, wrestling, singing, judging, hunting and fighting”.

“If you fail to wear it for one occasion I will refuse to eat food.”

“If you fail to wear it for two occasions I will divorce” Abuk swore solemnly on 11-7-7051 RCP.

February 27, 2015 (SSB) —  The voyage of South Sudan State Crafting and Consolidation has been a multifaceted endeavor involving all the stakeholders. South Sudan in September 2011 ratified the United Nations Charter and became 193rd member, received applauds for joining International Government. Many UN agencies have been supporting the people of South Sudan before the signing of Comprehensive Peace Agreement, during the interim period and towards the independence of South Sudan. These supports have been spelt out in various mandates UN agencies are executing in South Sudan.

For instance, UNDP mandate has been building strong accountable institutions of the governance, rule of law and service delivery while UNMISS initial mandate ranges from protection of civilians, human rights monitoring & reporting and support for the establishment and extension of accountable State authority. Now, the UNMISS mandate has been restricted to protection of civilians, human rights monitoring and reporting, leaving out extension to accountable State authority.

Although these mandates sound glaring, they should not make UNDP and UNMISS so righteous to the extent of throwing the first stone to the sinful South Sudan. Why is it so? Why is the UN, preferably UNDP and UNMISS could not be the first to throw stone to the crumbling South Sudan? Are they not accomplice in South Sudan State wobbling? Who is holier than thou in South Sudan State crafting and failure?

This short analysis shall argue that even though UNDP and UNMISS have aided in South Sudan State crafting, they have equally contributed to South Sudan State deconstruction making the country to stay on the run ways for this long. Thus two analyses of institutional building and political expedient are critical for this piece.

To begin with, institutional building has been one of the core areas where UNDP and UNMISS have contributed so far in South Sudan State crafting. To be sure, UNDP established its offices across the ten states as early as 2006 to build the government structures and accountability system with a special support to the office of the President. In the office of the President, many advisors contracted by UNDP and assigned to help strengthen accountability system and coach staff to manage decentralization and inter-governmental linkages could not fix the system well.

In the state levels, each advisor either on governance, development, rule of law, peace, economy & finance, gender or health issues has been embedded at the Governor’s Office, Ministry of Finance, Law Enforcement, Judiciary, Physical Infrastructures, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Agriculture, Gender & Social Welfare to mention but a few to help building robust systems that could enhance accountability, transparency and service delivery. Indeed, UNDP helped in building and rehabilitating State Police Offices, Prison Services and Judiciary and so on.

These endeavors, managed by the UNDP Support to States Project helped in charting the State crafting in the desired direction. The deployment of more than 280 specialists through both the Rapid Capacity Placement Initiative (RCPI) and IGAD projects has gone a long way in providing much needed coaching and mentoring support of durable nature and enabled accountability for UNDP’s programming.

However, UNDP is viewed to have contributed to South Sudan State failure. A compelling argument is that with the presence of UNDP advisors to the governments at the ten states and even within the highest office of the President, rule of law and accountability systems are still to be fully instituted. Yet, UNDP has attracted billions of dollars in tandem to South Sudan State Crafting and Reconstruction. Much of these dollars has been allocated to Policy Work, Service Delivery and Capacity Building.

Policy work and service delivery aside, the idea of ‘Capacity Building’ has been a tool used to solicit funds from the Development Community. UNDP and other NGOS have been quite passionate about this idea. However, ‘Capacity Building’ has been a practice of ‘Capacity Sucking out’. The Development Community comes so richly endowed and full of capacities that it tends to crowd out rather than complement the extremely weak state capacities of the targeted countries.

This means that while the governance functions are performed, indigenous capacity does not increase; and the countries in question are likely to revert to their former situations once the international development community loses interest or moves to the next crisis area. Thus ‘capacity sucking out’ of UNDP and NGOs in South Sudan context could apply to the aforementioned argument and moreover refers to drawing out the most qualified South Sudanese from the Government to work at UN offices, resulting in a brain-drained situation at the Government of South Sudan.

The provision of on job mentoring and coaching, technical trainings and fostering South Sudanese linkages through the deployment of regional civil servants to government institutions has not only suffocated the lowly skilled staff but also made them redundant. However, not only that the hypocrisy of ‘capacity building’ has been quite perturbing, the participation of donor community in the destruction of capacity through institutional neglect is a case in the nascent African State.

So in South Sudan, it is probable to argue that true emphasize on capacity building is another form of “tough love” to quote Francis Fukuyama, that, like conditionality, is very hard for well-intentioned people to actually it carryout. So what we get in the meantime is lip service to the importance of capacity building and the continued displacement of institutional capacity by outside donors.

Thus this conundrum does not go away but in fact becomes most severe when external leverage comes through nation-building rather than arms-length conditionality. Although the development community knows how to supply government services, it knows much less how to create self-sustaining indigenous institutions.

Drawing indigenous institutions deficit in South Sudan, UNDP appeared as a foreign own institution, The UNDP cadres’ development has been skewed towards maintenance of foreign staff at the highest levels with national staff at the middle and lowest levels. For example, UNDP South Sudan does have a few national specialists and team leaders while international staff dominated the top management of the development agency.

As a matter of capacity appreciation, Deputy Country Director could have gone to the highly experienced South Sudanese national given the availability pool of this expertise but this has not been the case with UNDP South Sudan. Although this state of affairs has not been realized as an ingredient of UNDP failure towards South Sudan State crafting, the gravity of denying nationals senior management portfolios has equally failed the development agency in realizing it goals and outcomes.

This comes in the form of government institutions viewing UNDP as a foreign managed entity that does not promotes “we feeling” and thus received apathy in implementation of projects. Most of foreign staffs go home every month with Hugh chunk of money including decent house allowances and air tickets that are not given to even more experienced and qualified South Sudanese nationals.

This lavishly pay has created ‘Development Tourism” whereby the international staff enjoy their stay in South Sudan as development tourists rather than partners in meaningful development.

On political expedient analysis, UNMISS comes handy in understanding its roles in South Sudan State crafting and failure. Wait a minute, UNMISS contributed to both South Sudan reconstruction and fragility. To be exact, one cannot forget the applauding efforts UNMISS showcased in averting genocide during December 2013 political ignominy. Having accommodated over four hundred thousand civilians during the political crisis in Bentiu, Malakal, Bor and Juba Protection Camps, UNMISS appeared as serious stakeholder in South Sudan State crafting and consolidation.

But again did the UNMISS response on time? Why is it that majority of civilians were lynched in Bor, Akobo, Bentiu, Malakal and Juba in presence of large UNMISS troops? Could that really be a strategic neglect on the side of UNMISS? Even though UNMISS averted large-scale genocide, it has really allowed deaths of very many poor South Sudanese in their watch during the power pursuit skirmishes. The leitmotif that civilians have to run to the UNMISS compounds to seek protection does not make protection really protection.

Yet the responsibility to protect should be exercised to the civilians that have not run to the UNMISS precinct. Despite this, it is fair to say that UNMISS contribution to South Sudan State reconstruction is historical. Not only did UNMISS reign its glory on the protection of civilians, it had also contributed in strengthening the capacities of police force and prison services and modest infrastructure development such as upgrading of rough roads.

Nonetheless, UNMISS has been viewed to have contributed to South Sudan State crumbling from the onset of the inking of Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). SOFA gives UNMISS personnel exclusive rights of travelling everywhere in South Sudan without any restriction, control of UNMISS special terminal at Juba International Airport (JIA) and implementation of their work programmes without governmental approval.

Unfortunately, the SOFA has been abused, thrown under the carpet by some individuals in the UNMISS in tandem of dodging the responsibility and genuine support to South Sudan State Crafting. For instance, it is alleged that some UNMISS contractors would stay after their contracts have expired to do other illicit businesses. Moreover, some contractors would bring in their girlfriends and boyfriends to South Sudan on the pretext that they are UN contractors. This has not only been a pitfall on the implementation of SOFA, but also other serious posers have been associated with the trashing of SOFA.

An allegation has it that many UNMISS staff have been trading dollars in the black market with even some found with sophisticated machines of faking dollars. What is more, given the exclusive freedom of control of its terminal in JIA, some UNMISS individuals have been alleged to have smuggled in some prohibited drugs to South Sudan soil. Is this really being holy to throw the first stone to South Sudan?

Still connected to free traveling inside South Sudan without hindrance and together with SOFA’s clause of UNMISS assets not to be inspected, UNMISS did a serious misstep in its history in the world. The impoundment of UNMISS trucks by a nationalist soldier in Rumbek while transporting assaults of military hardware leveled as humanitarian goods to Bentiu, is attestation to this claim.

Although the UNMISS management including the UN Secretary General apologized for this as gravest mistake arguing that the trucks were wrongly leveled and weapons destined for Ghanaian Battalion’s in Bentiu, the damage of this incident could not exonerate anything else but rather pinpoint UNMISS as having an intended plan for South Sudan State failure not candid crafting. Although the government has equally bruised UNMISS and breached the SOFA either, the government response has been perhaps done under deep-seated suspicion.

Given the above elucidated arguments on UNDP and UNMISS, it is plausible concluding that UN should not throw the first stone to sinful South Sudan for the very reason that it has equally sinned and deserved to undertake technical and political repentant. The UN agencies should be more vigilant about their mandates and programmes so as to eschew programmes duplication, overstretching donors funding and over-stepping on the Government toe.

Although the Government has its shortcomings and indeed sinned, UNDP and UNMISS are not righteous entities.

February 27, 2015 (SSB) —  Following the numerous points of concern in Republic of South Sudan; many writers are relentlessly visualizing the upcoming doom status of invasive state of swaying-greed for leadership shouldered on cursed-filled-deads. I am standing still to let the reality shine in the face of the paradoxical allied front-runners of this-nation-so-called-South- Sudan. Everyday there is peace talk that doesn’t translate itself into physical harmony. Peace itself isn’t an asset that requires international community intervention. Somalia, DR Congo, Libya and Iraq are good examples that president Kiir should put into consideration as he pushes his government

Unsteady security situation in South Sudan since 2010 after Salva Kiir Mayardit became the president keeps everything stagnant and it disapproves the leadership ofKiir is as the legitimate president of South Sudan; thousands of innocent South Sudanese civilians lost their lives to rebels starting with George Athor Deng Dut and David YauYau who discriminately killed thousands of innocent civilians. Dr. Riek Machar finally blew the final whistle of doom to demonstrate how weak his political strength is and it was also a test to the government of president Kiir. The government which gives rebels credit every year. The government which doesn’t bring any culprit into law; the government that cannot afford to protect citizens.

To make it easy, many writers highlighted the disadvantages of giving amnesty to “little insects” like Gabriel Tanginya, Gatwei Dual and Bapiny who are gravely headache to the government of Kiir as I write. It would have been a big ideal if one could have written something about it but!

However, insecurity is the chief enemy of development. South Sudan will never develop if president Kiir remains in the presidency. Appointing corrupt ministers and governors who work for their families not the country; development includes Agriculture, Education, Health and physical infrastructures principally. The very people who embezzle public funds are the one removed and reappointed.

Rich country like South Sudan direly needs a proactive, innovative and patriotic leader who is ready to achieve the dream of Dr. John Garang De Mabior of taking town to the people not people to town.

Abuse of human rights and international humanitarian laws have been rampant as government forces are not trained or even once introduced to the rules of war. Both SPLA and organized forces are not transformed. They assume to be part of their respective tribes; this later fosters bad image to the word.

The current peace talk which is branded to be the final phase will neither bring peace to the stranded citizens in Counties, Payams and Bomas nor will it trace back the massive numbers of citizens who are seeking refuge in neighboring countries. The harm of the conflict will not be removed in the heart of citizens who lost their beloved relatives on 15 December 2013. We can’t wait with our arms folded saying that President Kiir was in the chain of SPLM/A comrades who fought for freedom. No. That is absolutely wrong. He wasn’t fighting for his position but for the general right of Southerners. There are plenty points that disapprove the leadership of president Kiir.

Since I remain conversant with myself since I personalized the forth condition that MUST smokescreen the spirit of this country as politics has become a mean of deriving soundless legacy in the light of unrealistic decision reasoned to cataclysmic mandate to ruin the future of South Sudan.

The citizen who will read this piece of tangible scrutiny of what will undoubtedly come forth; should read and re-read this very critique,I felt consoled after many South Sudanese came to me and discussed issues that would actualize the real image of South Sudan and her connection to sovereign ability to solving internal issues.

Since the war clicked the trunk of South Sudan I proved that all of us are enemies of living a long lasting life as we all bear a symbol of insurgency on our forehead; however, we all assume to be consuming smoky cold temperatures out of no clinical code of conduct. Any citizen who is annexed to the list of serfdom and extermination to reveal the existing realism should always think of how to liberate the dying humanity in this chaotic Republic of South Sudan. I opted to chain my dirt into the pond of fouls to replace exhilarating pounds in reference to the leashing even handedness not only to share when they are cheering but also to mind my own business.

World is walled up with born and elected leaders but South Sudan has suddenly mistaken the living fact of the universe and took the counterfeited system of disposed autocracy which was formerly meant for ancient rulers of the late world. There is no prevailing categorical system that divides the government in advent to withhold the known right in least developed environment. President Kiir is not the correct leader to rule South Sudan at this digitalized stage based on our rights as citizens of this country.

The third majority (Quorum) of every discussion either within family or other social gatherings remains detached from what you think in upper house; the citizens are traumatized as they know there is no bright future as per the current leadership. Many citizens sacrificed their souls to fight for freedom from Khartoum regime hoping that they would one day be stakeholders and first class citizens of their own New Sudan and they are facing the opposite contemporary.

To be continued……………..!

By Emmanuel Malual Makuach, Kenya

February 27, 2015 (SSB) —  Thousands of South Sudanese student in the North Rift Valley are gathered to listen to the education attaché at the South Sudan Embassy in Kenya, Madam Dicho Elizabeth Clement.

Madam Dicho wanted to acquaint herself with the challenges facing students in Kenya, particularly in the North Rift Valley region and part of western Kenya.

This is the first time since she took over that the students from various public and private universities has used the occasion to explain their challenges to her.

The students are also asking the government to assist those who are studying outside the country. They are requesting for financial assistance. Among the challenges students face are imposed conditions such as the 20 percent pay by foreign students in public universities and colleges in Kenya.

There is also the question about the money transfer systems, which delayed their school fees and therefore affect their studies every year. For example, some students are missing the semester because they have gone home to get school fees.

The students call upon the government to consider the policy of money transfer, arguing that the government and relevant authorities should priorities the educational needs of South Sudanese students in foreign countries.

The education attaché at the Embassy of South Sudan, Madam Dicho, assure the students of the commitment of the government, saying that she remains available for resolving or assisting in sorting out the students’ problem were necessary.

“We are available for advice and counseling, giving direction and other support that the office can afford,” she assured the students. She continued saying that the office is aware of the students issues that ranges from tuition fees, certificates authentication, need for guidance and counseling, and moral support.

“As far as certificates are concerned, we advise that any student that is ready to leave South Sudan to go to any country should observe to take note the following:  if you are primary leaver, make sure your certificates are stamped or verified by the central ministry of education science and technology and then authenticated by ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation in Juba, South Sudan.

Also if you have completed both primary and secondary schools, make sure the ministry of foreign affairs and international trade of the republic of Kenya and any other relevant concerned authority authenticate your certificate before you leave for another country to study, furthermore the office of education continuing advising the students to registered and joined recognized institutions mandated by the commission for higher education.

If you finish well, you are the human resources that the country South Sudan need. For the students’ financial support, we do not have any at the moment because the current political turmoil in our country makes our financial difficulties back home.

The Embassy encourages and requires that every South Sudanese students in Kenya to register with the embassy.  Therefore, we have a form for collecting the students’ data for Kenya; we would like to know how many you are here in Kenya. Thanks you.”

Mading Akueth (in the middle, grey shirt) with Isaiah Chol Aruai and Aleer Longar, speaking to reporters on their arrival in Juba after two days in captivity

February 27, 2015 (SSB) —  In the fateful day of Feb 3, 215, Hon. Isaiah Chol Aruai, Jacob Aleer and I boarded a United Nation Humanitarians Services (UNHAS) helicopter from Mabior (Panyagor) to Juba. However, for the reason best known to the Russian Pilot, the chopper took us to the SPLM-IO control areas called Jiech, Ayod County, where the rebels’ military governor had earlier issued the order that UN should not bring Dinka and Uganda nationals to their areas.

We happened to be from the Dinka ethnic group who are not needed in the area so we were immediately arrested and the chopper was released to continue with its journey back to Juba.

I came to learnt — in the midst of pain and fear and at the face of death — the real human being behavior which was hidden for many years truly emerge and priorities start to align themselves perfectly; we could think what is most important to us. We could think about our beautiful families, relatives, friends and visions. I could clearly see priorities of my life; what I will do? Where I will do it? And how I will do it if I could be allowed to live again by the rebels?

In the investigation process, we could console ourselves that though we are thrown into the lions’ den; we adapt the attitude of Biblical Daniel who bravely faced the lions the whole night alone until dawn. We asked ourselves: “do the lions have a moral conviction to eat us alive since we are innocent before God, man and the law?” The biggest choice was with the lions.

The choice was squarely in the hands of SPLM-IO starting from the officers who had arrested us to the top leadership of their movement. We all know how systems work. By then, despite the immense pressures from the UN networks, the government in Juba, the SPLM former detainees and the entire South Sudanese communities all over the world, the SPLM-IO still held a final say to either release us and we returned to Juba to witness the big welcoming of captives from citizens in Juba International Airports or to kill us and throw our bodies to the bush for the birds of the airs and carnivores animals to satisfy their desire for most delicious meat they can get, the human bodies.

We, the former captives appreciate the rebels’ decision for releasing us; whether we are not more important than the people they had killed in Bor, Malakal and Bentiu or not. The fact remain that we were considered dead but now we are still alive and we shall continue doing the good work we have been doing for this country.

Some influential leaders in the Greater Bor community have already argued that “if a rat runs away from the cat, it should not thanks the cat but its own effort to have managed to escape from the cat.” I think this theory of “rat and cat” victorious escape does not fit in our situation because we did not managed by our efforts to run away from the prison. We were released as a gesture of goodwill that we are still one nation, regardless of the dimension this conflict is taking.

Indeed, if we could have struggled and escaped from their prison and ran to government control areas by our strength, we would have not appreciated their decision because the initiative would have been ours. But that is not the case, we were released, we did not escaped and that is why we appreciate the rebels for saving our lives.

We also appreciate the government lead by President Salva Kiir for establishing contact with the rebels and the UN leadership immediately and demand for our release. In Feb 13, 2015 when we met the president, he told us that when he first got the information of our arrest in the evening of Feb 3, 2015, he immediately called the representative of the UN Secretary General in South Sudan and told her that she should talk to the rebels for us to be release immediately without conditions.

The UN systems work so hard through UNOCHA to ensure that we were released and we appreciated the roles they had played in this particular case though we still question the rationale of taking us from Panyagor to Jiech which is under the rebels.

Moreover, the SPLM formers detainees used their contacts within the rebel circles to ensure that we were safe and treated well. Let me give the credit to where it is due. Dr. Majak De’ Agot was calling hourly to console us and provide us with updates about our release.

I remembered on Feb 4, 2015, Hon. Deng Dau, MP for Twic East, called using military governor’s Thuraya and talked to Isaiah about our situations and process for our release. Asante Mheshimiwa (thanks honorable) Deng Dau Malek.

All these leaders I have mentioned above, I don’t personally know them well though I do hear about them because they are public figures and they don’t also know me too well. I know that they were mainly calling because of Hon. Isaiah Chol who is their colleague in the SPLM/A or government, but our fate was tied together with him. We wholeheartedly say thank you with your teams for supporting us in our difficult time of dire need.

I know so many leaders in our community might want to call but they did not have contacts of SPLM-IO leaders; we appreciated your attempts too.

We thank the Greater Bor community for their tireless prayers, coordination, thanksgiving ceremonies and word of blessings they had pronounced on our lives. We know that you all love us dearly with all your heart, spirit, bodies and might. We are proud to be part of this great community which care and protect her humble citizens. We say the lord our Gods who remove us from the jaws of lions will bless you according to his riches in glory.

Finally, I think it is wiser for all the parties who had participated in our release to continue with this political goodwill to ensure that there is good security for all citizens both in government and rebels control areas so that our citizens can build back their trust again. We have learnt that our citizens still love themselves and they can still live together in this country.

We must take up responsibility for bringing peace to this country. We should focus our mind to bring peace and reconciliation in this country because it is good for all of us.

We cannot leave the issues of peace to the government, rebels, former detainees, civil societies and church leaders alone; we should also play our roles in promoting peaceful co-existence in the villages, markets and school.

I hope every party who was involved in our release did not just do so because of us but for the great concern they have for all citizens in this country. We must put our efforts together to make our country a peaceful and proud nation once more.

Chapter Nine

Ten days had just passed. Madut returned to Abuk’s home. Abuk told him to come after six days to cement their relationship. Six days passed and Madut came back. He was taken to the hut. Inside the hut Madut cleared his throat and said “our word has been mediated and coordinated by my brothers and your sisters, and I would like to hear from your mouth” Madut demanded.

“In my opinion, I don’t want you” Abuk said.

“Why don’t you want me?”

“I just don’t want you”

“Tell me the reason”

“No reason”.

The two had talked for a long time, for three hours until Abuk she had admitted him as an engagement man. Then Maduk asked that he wanted to know one point about their engagement. “There were three types of engagement, acceptance and admission. The girl would accept a man if there were no other men, and she doesn’t love a man – this is called a paprus man until the man she loves comes. The girl could accept a man because the man has been disturbing her for a long time. The girl could accept a man if she really loves him and if the man says he wants to marry her, she accepts”. Abuk said she really loved him.

From that point, the two moved to another social back ground. Both asked each other mothers, brothers, sisters until the sun sets and she escorted Madut out.

After one month Madut returned back. He told Abuk that he would like to hear only one sentence from her mouth.

“Do you love me?” Madut asked.

“Yes”

“How?”

“In fact I love you, my love for you is deeper than Marianas Trench, and higher than Mount Everest”.

“Show me your love.”

“How shall I show it to you? I have shown it to you, that is why you are here in our home.”

“If you can’t show me your love, you have made a mistake of accepting me.”

“No, I will never show it to you here in our home. My mother can’t sleep with a man in this home and I do the same. I want to remain a virgin if you want to marry me”

“Who is a virgin? What is virginity? It is just a little virtue”

“Well, it is a little virtue, you know. Might is the origin of life, but mightier is the little aim achieved – it is little and I am pleasant to achieve”

“I doubt whether there is a daughter who is a virgin, unless unborn daughters”

“It’s up to you. I know for sure unborn are virgins, but pure virgin is a daughter who obeys her mother’s whispers on a man.”

“You turned down my request. You make me feel little and foolish”

“Do you think all you requested can make you great and wise?”

“Yes.”

“Oh, my man. Greatness and wisdom is gained by countless thanks and praises of your deeds and words, not by the number of the girls and women you touch. Remember, flies touch their women.”

“Don’t abuse.”

“ I’m not abusing you, you are the one abusing me.”

“In which way am I abusing you when expressing my love for you?”

“You know the girl is abused and humiliated by men through fornication, prostitution, hugging, kissing in public, and visiting engaged men’s houses.”

“I don’t understand what you mean! Love is one of the oldest virtues on earth, and one of the grave morals in every society.”

“Oh yes my man. That is one of  the grave morals, but if you practice it at your father’s house it will result into prostitution and prostitution is one of the greatest evils in every culture of wise people.”

“You don’t love me truly” Madut lamented.

“I truly love you but, I simply stick to traditionalism – traditional ways of life and pure love. True love strictly takes a long time to grow, longer time to ripen, and longest time to taste, harvest and enjoy, Abuk declared.

The United Nations, United States, Ethiopia, Kenya, Troika countries and their inviter, the SPLM /A I O and G-10 are the Bloc of Evil.  They are preparing to overthrow President Kiir after July 9, 2015,  the expiry of his term in office. Why this bloc is deposing  Mr . Kiir from office?.

Because the Political crisis of South Sudan has been philosophized by many  Think Tanks and political analysts and the conclusions of all studies suggested the problem is Salva Kiir and is  Salva Kiir only . If he is removed from office South Sudan will be become  a paradise.

The Bloc of Evil has finalized the details’ of the plan. the implementer of that plan is  United Nations.  United Nations  have brought 200 tanks to South Sudan.  Who is UN going to fight with 200 tanks. It is Salva Kiir . These UN tanks were detained by the Government of South Sudan  in Nimule but were later on released .  These tanks will be used by the UN to overthrow President  Kiir as UN did to Laurent Gbabo in Ivory Coast .

If you observe how the tone of IGAD chief Mediator in addressing delegates, you will know something is cooked already, if you observe the threatening speech of Trioka representative, you will know something secret is running. if you observe the US draft sanctions document , you will see there is covert operation  going on.

The self –evident  from  history  says ‘’ if US and UN are against you , your days are numbered ‘’ , we have many examples of that ,the following  are the leaders who were overthrown  by the UN and US ,  Saddam Hussein of Iraq, Slobodan  Milosevic  of Yugoslavia , Laurent Gbabo of Ivory Coast , Mamuar Gadaffi of Libya ., Omar Mullah of Afghanistan  etc .

Also , in some cases ,where  these UN and US intervened , the situation  in those countries worsened , for example in Somalia , Iraq , Afghanistan, Congo ,

Let takes Libya as example ,  when NATO overthrew Gadaffi , after Gaddaffi ,  five government ruled in five years , each year has  its own government  . Now as we speak, there are two governments and parliaments ruling in Libya.  And this is   the result of US and  UN actions

The Bloc of Evil has planned that  if there is no peace up to July , 10  2015 , there is no way Kiir  will  claim  legitimacy any  more  , then the Bloc will move in and remove Kiir .

The Bloc of Evil  has decided ,  even if the Transitional Government of National Unity is formed and fighting erupts again , the UN will move in and get rid of the illiterate  president  once and for all. Because he will  be  illegitimate  then .

UN and US  are not removing Kiir now  because he is still legitimate  .

This is what  the UN and US  have been  ding to small weak countries like South Sudan . so  South Sudan is not exceptional in the international politics and must taste the wrath of Western Imperialism and neo – colonialism. It is now upto Mr , Kiir to play  his card wisely  ,because the Western imperialists are  are unmanageable  guys . When they take you on, they will  either kill you like Gadaffi or they imprison you like Laurant Gbabo  and Charles Taylor of Liberia  or you go in hiding  like Omar Mullah of Afghanistan.

,i  assure you guys, If the Bloc of Evil overthrow President Kiir , Kiir government will be the last stable government in 20 years . Every year, there will be new government in Juba. South Sudan will move from bad governance to anarchy

I assure  you , If the Government of Kiir is toppled,  Kiir supporters will not use convention warfare to resist   as Riek  White Army is doing , they will use unconventional warfare of blockading  all roads leading to Juba and every towns in the country  until that puppet   government  falls  within one year , mark my words .

By Gatkuoth Lok

I have just noticed that Kiir called for general amnesty in the country.

What for? What do we make of this?

Hey, in the mind of our Kiir, he erroneously thought that time has come for the opposition forces under Dr. Machar to join him one by one since naive n lackey gen. Lul Ruai submitted himself with his lovely victimized wife to his Juba govt.

This must be one of the core reasons why he broke his promise to turn up for peace negotiation in Addis Ababa, for the last round of talks on 19th this feb.2015

In his general amnesty, president Kiir asked the white army to put down their guns to come home. Look, does Kiir want to mass-massacre the white army as he himself finished Nuer civilians in Juba? What do u think of a movement with all its fundamental objectives and ultimate goal? Do you Kiir, dream of having again all the presidential powers which you previously abused in the first place?

Is Kiir confusing our military commanders with those of militia commanders, notably; BapinyMunytueil, David YauYau, n Johnson Ulony who got coopted all, n left behind their goals? These commanders gave up to fightKiir in order for them to garner some enticing appeasements of military ranks?

Can Kiir compare these commanders with SPLA generals; namely Gen. Gatwech Dual, the current chief of general staff, Gen. Peter Gatdet Yaka, Deputy chief, for operation, Gen. Dau Atourjuong, Deputy chief for training SPLA, among others?

Is he confusing our exponent political leaders with superficial political leaders as those of Hon. Prof. Dr. lam akol ajawin, Hon. Dr. Riek Gai Kok, Mr. Tutkew Gatluak, Rev. hon. Kuol Chol Awan and young sycophant and lackey ambassador, Gordon Buay Malek?

To all afore-asked questions, I answer, no, Kiir must not get confused to opt for deceptive political trajectory in wild hope that he might ensure his life presidency coming into existence in this Republic of ours.

Therefore; we refuse to believe that Kiir is anointed King of Awan Chan clan of Warrap to preside over all South Sudanese by force.

We refuse to believe that being bribed by your own money control by Kiir’s thugs is the only celebrated life today in South Sudan.

We also rejected that some people were born poor n shall die poor n that the ruling tribe is blessed n each member was born rich n shall die rich n also born to rule n not to be ruled. This is the crux of muonyjiengism policy from which all our crises come.

We r all tired of Kiir’s dictatorship based on the aforesaid policy n that it must be uprooted n be replaced with democracy though with high prices, we have to pay since it embodies all our soul desires viz: the rule of law, equality and rights of various sorts- consequential to accountability, which radically reduces corruption in the Republic.

This must be actualized, no matter what.

It implies that dictatorship characterized with bulk of impunity cases, including the ongoing Museveni-Kiir’s genocide, tribalism, nepotism, cronyism n all ill-isms must be dealt with in our life time.

Well, let’s call it a nice piece of today… for our evening reflection dear friends of goodwill.

I remain humble n patriotic.

Africa’s Worst Tragedy: Economic Disorientation – A Case of South Sudan!

This is a speech by Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba, commonly referred to as Prof. PLO Lumumba, a Kenyan national and a former Director of Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission from September 2010 to August 2011. He is currently the Director of The Kenya School of Law. Extracted by Deng Lueth Yuang for general information purpose ONLY.

Africa’s Worst Tragedy: Economic Disorientation – A Case of South Sudan! When I look at Africa,

Many times, I ask myself, “What would happen if Mwalimu were to rise up and see what is happening?”

Many times, I would ask myself, “What would happen if Kwame Nkruma and Patrice Lomumba were to rise up and see what is happening?”

Because what they would be confronted with is an Africa where the Democratic Republic of Congo is unsettled. There is a war going on there. But is not on the front pages of our newspapers, because we don’t even control our newspapers and the media. As I speak to you, the Central African Republic is at war. But we talk of it only mutedly. As I speak to you now, in South Sudan, the youngest nation in Africa, the Nuers have risen against the Dinka. As I speak to you now, Eritrea is unsettled. As I speak to you now, there is unease in Egypt and there is unease in Libya, in Niger it is no better, in Senegal in the Casamance. In Somalia, is no better. Africa is at war with herself. This is what they would be confronted with.

They would be confronted with an Africa which statisticians and romantic economists said it is growing but which in truth is stagnated. That is the Africa they would be confronted with.

They would be confronted with an Africa, which Prof Mulama intimated in her presentation here is an Africa, which is suffering from Schizophrenia. It does not know herself. They would be confronted with an Africa whose young men and women have no interest and no love for their continent.

They would be confronted with an Africa where a young man and young woman are constantly humiliated at the embassies of European countries and at the United States of America as they seek the almighty green card.

They would be confronted with an Africa where young men and women from Niger, Nigeria Senegal, Mali and Mauritania drown in the Mediterranean as they seek to be enslaved in Europe. This time around, Africans are not wailing and kicking as they are being taken away to be enslaved. They are being seen wailing and kicking as they seek to be enslaved in Europe and America.

This is the tragedy of Africa. They would be confronted with an Africa where people have lost their self-pride. An Africa where Africans are not proud of their things.

An Africa where in the hotels of Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, even food has foreign names. When we fry potatoes, we call them French fries even when they are fried in Dar es Salaam. That is the Africa that they would be confronted with. They would be confronted with another Africa , an Africa that does not tell her histories. An Africa whose story is told by Europe and America – the CNN, Radio deutsche welle, radio France. That is the Africa they would be confronted with.

They would be confronted with young men and women who have no pride in Africa. When they want to enjoy themselves, they sing the praises of football teams from Europe and America – it is Manchester United; it is Arsenal; it is Real Madrid and Barcelona!

Not Yanga, not Mvulira Wanderers, not GorMaiah, not FC Leopards. Nooo. That is an Africa they would be confronted with.
They would be confronted with an Africa which does not enjoy its theatres and dramas. An Africa that celebrates Leorando DiCaprio

It Celebrates AnelinaJoli and Brad Pitt. An Africa that does not celebrate Genevieve Naiji of Nigeria, or Isa Dominic or Olou Jacobs of Nigeria.

It does not celebrate Bongowood, or Nollywood, or Riverwood. It celebrates Hollywood. That is the Africa with which they would be confronted. They would be confronted with African women whose greatest source of joy is cheap great been Mexican bean soap opera – la Fatrona, la merdamivena, the de rich de la cray.

Why must we remind ourselves of these realities? Because throughout out the ages, the battle has been always the battle of the mind. And if your mind is conquered, then you are going nowhere. And that is why in the ages of enlightenment, the great Rene Descartes said “Kijitohigo sum’ – I think therefore I am;

And therefore if Africans are to begin to make a contribution in their affairs, Africans must begin to think. But the question is: are we thinking?

We have universities in their numbers. Tanzania has universities including Dar es Salamm. Nairobi has universities as indeed Kampala as indeed South Africa, Johannesburg.

We have all these universities.

We have engineers. But our roads are not being made by Tanzanian civil engineers. It is the Chinese who are present in this assembly who are making our roads. So we have engineers who cannot even make roads. We have doctors whom we have trained. But when we are sick, particularly if we are of the political class, depending on who colonized you – if you are colonized by the United Kingdom, you rush to London. If the French colonizes you, you rush to Paris, if you are colonized by the Portuguese, you rush to Lisbon and if you are colonized by Spaniard, you rush to Madrid, Spain.

And recently because the Asians are beginning to get their act together, we run to India. And very lately because the Arabs are also beginning to get their act together, we run to Dubai; not withstanding that we have the Kenyattas hospitals of this country, the Mwimbilis of Tanzania, the Kiris-Honeys-Baragwonats of South Africa, and the Mama Yemos of Kinshasa in Zaire or Democratic Republic of the Congo. But we have no faith in our doctors. In the area of education, we also don’t have faith.
Our political class introduced something that they call free education.

But it is free indeed, free of knowledge.

Because they are so suspicious of those institutions, the typical African politician would not dare take their children to those schools.

Their children will be educated in the British System, in the America system so that when they graduate they go to the united kingdom, to the united states; not that there is anything wrong with those institutions but their agenda is wrong because our leaders long lost the script and often describe for whom they are, our misleaders.

But we are co-authors of our own misfortunes.

Whenever we are given an opportunity to elect our leaders, we are given a blank cheque. And if you permit me a little latitude, and if you give me a blanket cheque and you allow me to analogise and you say that I am given the blanket cheque to buy a Mercedes Benz, what we do is that when we are called upon having been so empowered, we buy what one calls a ‘tutktuk’ from India and expect it to behave like a Mercedes Benz!

How does that happen? Because what we do is to elect thieves; we elect hyenas to take care of goats; and when the goats are consumed, we wonder “why?”

US Presents UN Draft Resolution on South Sudan Sanctions

US Presents UN Draft Resolution on South Sudan Sanctions

Published Wednesday, February 25, 2015
The United States on Tuesday presented a UN draft resolution on imposing sanctions in South Sudan, where warring factions have repeatedly failed to abide by agreements to end 14 months of war.

The measure was submitted to the Security Council a day after Ethiopia opened a new round of negotiations between the warring sides that were billed as a final opportunity to reach a sustainable peace deal.

Under the resolution, the Security Council could impose targeted sanctions such as a global travel ban and an assets freeze on individuals who are deemed a threat to the stability of South Sudan.

The draft raised the possibility of imposing an arms embargo on South Sudan, a measure strongly backed by European countries despite concerns that the ban could penalize President Salva Kiir Mayardit’s forces more than the rebel fighters of Riek Machar.

“The political leaders have repeatedly failed to put their narrow political and economic agendas aside in order to find political solutions that could bring a measure of stability,” a US official said.

“In light of that, our goal is to work with our partners to move forward with a sanctions resolution that will lay the groundwork for imposing costs on those who continue to fail to work toward a solution,” said the official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Seven previous ceasefires have failed to take hold in South Sudan, which exploded into violence in December 2013 after a falling-out between Kiir and his then-Vice President Machar.

UN peacekeeping chief Herve Ladsous told the 15-member Security Council that prospects for a breakthrough were dim.

“The likelihood that either side could soften its stance remains low,” Ladsous said.

Tens of thousands of people have died in the 14-month conflict, 1.5 million have been displaced and 2.5 million are in dire need of food aid in South Sudan, which declared independence from Sudan in 2011.

More than 113,000 civilians have fled to UN bases for protection as government troops and fighters are accused of waging terror campaigns of rape and killing.

Regional negotiators have now set a deadline of March 5 for Kiir and Machar to reach a final peace deal that includes a transitional unity government.

A second deadline of April 1 has been set to launch preparations for the transition that should be completed no later than July 9.

US officials described the two deadlines as “milestones” and said the Security Council would decide at those times whether to move forward and impose sanctions, once the resolution is adopted.

A vote on the US-drafted resolution at the Security Council could take place next week, diplomats said.

The draft resolution threatens sanctions against those involved in recruiting child soldiers or who block deliveries of humanitarian aid as well as leaders who fail to advance peace negotiations.

It provides for a panel of experts to be established and a sanctions committee that will report to the Security Council on the situation in South Sudan.

The United States announced plans in November to present a sanctions resolution, but the measure ran into resistance over the arms embargo provision and shifting positions from African governments in the region.

Over two dozen armed forces — including government soldiers and allied militia backed by Ugandan soldiers on one side, and a range of rebel factions on the other — have been battling it out for the last 14 months.

Fighting has raged this month in the northern Upper Nile state, with the government warning that rebel forces were splintering, making any negotiations increasingly complicated.

In early February, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon accused South Sudan’s leaders of putting their own interests above those of their people after they failed to reach a power-sharing deal.

The warring factions have earned a reputation as slow talkers and hard drinkers, during the latest European Union-funded negotiations in Ethiopia, which cost at least $22 million, according to diplomatic sources.

South Sudan sanctions loom as US presents draft UN resolution

Waning patience over repeated failure of ceasefire agreements prompts US to propose global travel ban and asset freeze
President Salva Kiir and Riek Machar attend a ceasefire ceremony in Addis Ababa last May. After seven unsuccessful attempts to end the civil war in South Sudan, the country could face sanctions.

South Sudan’s warring factions are a step closer to facing sanctions after the US presented a UN draft resolution threatening a global travel ban and assets freeze.

The resolution is a signal the US is losing patience with the repeated failure of the two sides “to put their narrow political and economic agendas aside” and stop fighting.

Similar language emerged from the UN’s peacekeeping chief, who accused both the government and rebels of “a serious failure of leadership that remains focused on its pursuit for power rather than care of its people”.

The US measure, which was submitted to the UN security council on Tuesday, came a day after the latest round of negotiations to end South Sudan’s 14-month civil war began in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.

Seven ceasefires have failed to take hold in South Sudan, which erupted into violence in December 2013 after President Salva Kiir accused his vice-president, Riek Machar, of plotting a coup.

Tens of thousands are thought to have died in the fighting, which has displaced 1.5 million people internally and forced another 480,000 into neighbouring countries. Although famine was averted last year, the UN estimates 3.9 million people will face food insecurity in South Sudan in 2015, with 2.5 million becoming severely food insecure.

The draft resolution raises the possibility of an arms embargo on the world’s youngest country – a measure strongly backed by European countries despite concerns that the ban would penalise Kiir’s forces more than Machar’s rebels.

“The political leaders have repeatedly failed to put their narrow political and economic agendas aside in order to find political solutions that could bring a measure of stability,” a US official told AFP.

“In light of that, our goal is to work with our partners to move forward with a sanctions resolution that will lay the groundwork for imposing costs on those who continue to fail to work toward a solution.”

Asked why the resolution did not explicitly call for an arms embargo, a US official told Reuters the idea was to take an “incremental approach”, gradually increasing pressure on the warring factions.

Earlier this month, Valerie Amos, the UN under-secretary general for humanitarian affairs and emergency relief coordinator, backed calls for an arms embargo.

“Anything that takes weapons off the streets, out of countries and out of communities will help us because ultimately for us it’s about bringing peace,” she told the Guardian. “If there are no weapons, it’s harder for people to fight, peace will come sooner and we can get more aid to the people who so desperately need it.”

Despite the latest US moves, however, the UN’s peacekeeping chief, Hervé Ladsous, told the security council “the likelihood that either side could soften its stance remains low”.

He said the peace talks had been marred by “a serious failure of leadership that remains focused on its pursuit for power rather than care of its people”, adding: “There is now an urgent need to reinforce the mediation efforts, as well as to impose consequences on the parties if they fail to show willingness to compromise, and continue engaging in a conflict that will result in further loss of innocent lives.”

Regional negotiators have now set a deadline of 5 March for Kiir and Machar to reach a final peace deal that includes a transitional unity government.

A second deadline of 1 April has been set to launch preparations for the transition, which should be completed no later than 9 July.

US officials described the two deadlines as milestones and said the security council would decide at those times whether to move forward and impose sanctions, once the resolution is adopted.

A vote on the US-drafted resolution at the security council could take place next week, diplomats said.

The draft resolution threatens sanctions against those involved in recruiting child soldiers, as well as those who block deliveries of humanitarian aid and leaders who fail to advance peace negotiations.

It provides for a panel of experts to be established along with a sanctions committee that would report to the security council on the situation in South Sudan.

Although the US announced plans in November to present a sanctions resolution, the measure ran into resistance over the arms embargo provision and shifting positions from African governments in the region.

More than two dozen armed forces – including government soldiers and allied militia backed by Ugandan soldiers on one side, and a range of rebel factions on the other – have been battling since December 2013.

Fighting has raged this month in the northern Upper Nile state, with the government warning that rebel forces were splintering, making any negotiations increasingly complicated.

Last week, the UN children’s agency, Unicef, said that at least 89 boys – some as young as 13 – had been kidnapped by gunmen as they were preparing to sit school exams in the town of Wau Shilluk in the north of the country.

Both sides have been accused of using child soldiers. Unicef estimates that at least 12,000 children have been recruited.

South Sudan, which won independence from Sudan in July 2011, is also facing a worsening health crisis. On Tuesday, the World Health Organisation (WHO) appealed for $90m (£580m) of additional funding to provide vital health services to about 3.35 million people in South Sudan. The WHO said the disruption caused by months of fighting had weakened health systems and led to recurrent outbreaks of communicable diseases. It also noted that more than 80% of services are now being provided by international organisations.

‘Only when the last tree has died
The last river has been poisoned
and the last fish has been caught
will we realised that we cannot eat money’

Based on the Cree saying of the wise Indian Scholar.

The initiative to establish the center for environment and Nile conservation has come as a result of strict observations made by scientists based in South Sudan on how rapidly the environment is being polluted. Well ware of the highest level of pollution being discharged directly into the river Nile and the surroundings; also well acquainted to long term pollution cases of rivers like the Ganges in India and the Ruhr in Europe and how the people and Governments there are now regretting such a state of being.

Hence we are coming up with a proposal to establish the Centre for environment and Nile conservation in South Sudan in order to preserve our environment and waters by teaching our people (public) and spread awareness to all before it’s too late to rescue the situation. There is a very high release of pollutants into the air and the water ways in South Sudan and up stream in Uganda.

The centre will focus on giving awareness on dangers of polluting the environment so badly so quickly to the current high levels of pollution within few years especially within the last decade and the speed with which it is escalating; which is quite alarming.

The targeted outcomes of this center will be to protect the abundant resources in the Sudd basin and other areas mainly for the seek of human race’s benefit worldwide and particularly the South Sudanese, Ugandans, Sudanese, Egyptians and others who depend or enjoy the Sudd basin and the Nile resources. Most of the pollutants going into the river are non degradable materials like PET bottles, glass materials, plastic bags, and all kinds of plastic materials from broken chairs, tables etc.

There are also many cases of observed and to some extent, unconfirmed sewage discharges into the river Nile and its tributaries especially small feeder streams in South Sudan that join it. The air in South Sudan is also being badly polluted within the vicinity of populated areas by burning tires, plastic bags and bottles anyhow; releasing possibly highly carcinogenic gases into the air of which people around the surroundings just keep breathing in with no choice at all. The said materials we are spoiling our environment with are successfully recycled in other parts of the World but such kind of practice is nonexistent in South Sudan, therefore worsening the situation and leaving the only option of dump everything everywhere with volumes increasing day by day.

We are seeing more water factories and other manufacturing properties coming up very rapidly in South Sudan, the oil sector is also seen to develop effectively in the next years to come with some number of refineries that may spring up, this raises a very worrying phenomenon of increased uncontrolled pollution of our environment.

The issue of generators is also disturbing with high levels of noise and smoke pollution. Although it’s well known in South Sudan that people have no choice for clean power sources like hydroelectricity electricity, solar (existent but very minimally used) and other clean sources, the population generally resorted to the use of the said generators, the public can be made aware of clean options like the solar energy which many over look in South Sudan.

Thus extensive teaching of the population can turn the scenario around. There is also an alarming manner in which petroleum waste is being disposed of here in south Sudan; this kind of waste is well known to have long term effect on the environment with tendency of being transferred to further locations by running water polluting large land surface and water sources from where it was dumped.

The Centre plans to liaise effectively with other world conservation and study centers, the government of South Sudan and great Lakes Countries, the UN Environmental body and other relevant institutions especially regionally. It will work hand in hand with the university of Juba or any designated University and other local institutions for effective outreach to the students studying in South Sudan so as for them to benefit from the teachings, deliver the message to the population and benefit from it as well so as some of them will take lead in environmental conservation in the near future.

The scientists involved being well aware of the kinds of pollutants affecting South Sudan, will take tours around the World in Countries of interest and in neighbouring Countries to acquaint themselves with better means of containing the pollution locally, they will also print campaign materials to spread environmental awareness among the communities and frame academic teaching materials to the students in South Sudan.

The group will also work hard to ensure effective running of this Centre.

Dear readers, this article is in response to article posted on this respectful website this afternoon 22nd February 2015. This was purported as “SSSAK press release on South Sudan peace resumption in Addis Ababa” This is a scam of nuisance from ill-mannered thugs who called themselves SSSAK leaders. Pay no attention to them for they are misleading public of their fake claimed titles!

First, who is Dak Buoth Gabriel? Dak Gabriel is a self-blessed legal or law student of Presbyterian University of Eastern Africa, a University that does not offer law or even a certificate of law. He has authored several articles claiming to be an interim leader of South Sudanese Students Association in Kenya (SSSAK). This prompts me to response to his purported status of being SSSAK leader in Kenya. He is indeed a leader of thugs but not SSSAK for your information.

Please let me educate you on what transpired that led to this opportunism by the so called THUGs (SSSAK)’ leaders.

It was July 2013 that SSSAK leadership under legitimate outgoing chair Gacho Chol Yaak Akoy found itself in confusion after the office of Executive committee under Chol Yaak and Student council under Speaker Tab Gadiet differed on the formation of electoral commission.

This wrangle between executive and council drag on for long until the Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan to Kenya and concerned South Sudanese elders intervened as mediators between two SSSAK bodies. After long dispute, the two rival bodies of SSSAK were brought into an agreement in forming the electoral body with group of elders and Embassy of South Sudan as key observers to the students’ body elections.

The parties in dispute agreed under signed principles witnessed by Embassy and elders to carry out election immediately in the Month of December 2013. The whole body of Students came to great relief and the gear of elections wind around with all interested aspirants having started their lobbying and only waiting the go-ahead from the 7 vetted SSSAK electoral committee members by the council.

As the lobbying and campaign intensified among the contestants, the unfortunate coup attempt on Juba government took place on the night of 15th Dec, 2013. This forced the Embassy and Group of elders to suspend SSSAK elections until such a time when the situation in our country come back to normalcy. The entire students’ body under able leader Chol Yaak Akoy was also forced to comply due to tense atmosphere among South Sudanese who were negatively affected by what happened in South Sudan in one way or another.

Few months after the suspension of SSSAK’s activities due to fear of violence among South Sudanese students, the desperate cocoon of 13 students held a meeting in Metro Hotel in the city centre of Nairobi. The Thirteen goons agreed in absentia of Dak Gabriel that they will meet again after a week to form the so called interim SSSAK executive committee. These desperate brethren for SSSAK leadership have no time to waste and after one week later they recruited Dak Buoth Gabriel whom they later installed as interim chairman of SSSAK.

The name interim emerged immediately after Addis Ababa talk that was mentioned that Dr.Machar and President Kiir will form interim transitional government. This was copied by Desperate Dak and his thugs as a leeway of capitalizing to get to power of students’ leadership. From that date Dak Gabriel and his 12 members desperately spread the rumour of their leadership in the Nyamilepedia and many other websites to sell themselves as coned leaderof SSSAK, the job they are well familiar with.

Few weeks after their self-declaration as interim SSSAK leaders, they attempt to call council meeting. They were asked questions that they do not have answers until more than half of the self-claimed committee including Dak went undercover or disappear from public only to surface this week and claimed to have address media in support of peace talk resumption in Addis Ababa as students’ leaders.

They never convinced students’ body on how and who brought them to power. The unruly ill-mannered self-baptized deputy interim chairman whose identity is concealed resort to insults and unhealthy bashing and busting almost bursting with anger as he breathed fire on his opponents, the author included. The meeting came to an abrupt end forcing few cowardice idiots who were blindly recruited to resign leaving Dak and his physically fat-cheeked Secretary and almost head-balding deputy chairman isolated.

Let me tell you that there was no media addressed by students’ body in Kenya in the purported media released. This was a scam of photo shopping taken in Bomblast Tower and posted for public consumption. I just ask general public not to be fed by perpetuated news that deserved nothing but dustbin.

There is never been interim government nor any elections conducted to replace Chol Yaak Akoy, the current and outgoing chair of SSSAK. All forces of shame that claimed to be leaders are desperate individuals who want to capitalize and benefit on the vacuum created by unfortunate incident in South Sudan.

They are opportunists who once attempted to contest several times but were beaten in the previous elections. They lost hope of winning any elections and best thing they could do according to their little wisdom is to grab power by force.

I therefore declared these jerks as criminals on the run as they forged SSSAK new certificate to beg for dollars from unaware rebel and government officials from South Sudan to solicit money from them for their own lives. They desperately peep through the wind of every suspected hotel where government or rebel officials check in. There is a case hanging on their heads to answer for forgery of certificates prepared by outgoing chair and his team guided by his legal team.

Few days ago, the outgoing and able Honourable Speaker of the SSSAK council, Tab Gadiet and executive committee of SSSAK under His Excellency chair Chol Yaak Akoy formed a new seven (7) electoral committee members that was unanimously vetted for by the Honourable councillors of SSSAK. This was reached after the office of the speaker and executive agreed to form new electoral body after the expiry of the previous electoral body term as per the constitution of SSSAK.

We are therefore now waiting for 28th Feb, 2015 scheduled date for council meeting under Tab to officially give guidance to electoral body on how to carry out its task of conducting credible elections for all South Sudanese Students free and fairmanner. Our students’ body came to agreement that whatever happened in South Sudan should not derail their good course.

I challenge these hopeless brothers (whose identities are held due to fear of repercussion) to rekindle their hope and to take courage to contest than to grab power so that we, the students can choose them if indeed they want to be legitimate leaders like Chol Yak and his teams. God forbids for these sons of Lucifer to be leaders in SSSAK or even in future, no hope in them as the only hope in them for people to cope up with these organized gang of irresponsible jerks that will cause insecurity in all situations!

I am fearlessly announcing to general public in particular South Sudanese to be cautious enough not to fall into the ambush of these self-pitied and ego-centric thieves of Nairobi streets. They are professional thugs who address like princes and Princess of Queen of England that in no doubt you can’t fail to admire their body and verbal languages. They address professionally when they want to approach any unaware important person with intent to corner and con him or her. Please be careful with these professional and well-known idoits of shame.

Do not say that you are not informed dear South Sudanese of all walk of life! Be on standby for next article where you will see their true identities!

Chapter Eight

As soon as the three days had finished, Madut appeared at the home yard of the girl. The girl took him inside the hut. She greeted Madut warmly

“Tell me your name” Madut asked

“My name is Abuk Deng Kuel Dan Ayuel Dong Abuot”. I am a girl of big clan – the Tiit clan. Our family branch is Pagal lineage – our god is Mayual. We also obey cobra snake. Cobra snake is our relative. We are related to him”. The girl said her name, her clan, her lineage and the god of her religion.

“My name is Madut Kuol Madut, form Riet clan, Abaar lineage. Our God is Ringdit. We also obey river and we obey femur. We do not break femur when we are eating meat”, Madut narrated.

“Tell me, what do you want? Why do you come to our home?” Abuk asked.

“If a man who is not related to you comes to you, what comes to your mind?” Madut asked.

“Nothing at all”. Abuk answered.

“I want tobacco from you” Madut told her. Tobacco is a cultural configurative name for introducing an engagement to a girl.

“I cannot give you a tobacco” Aduk said.

“Why?”

“I don’t want you!”

“Tell me the reason”

“No reason.”

Madut and Abuk made a long joking argument until Abuk said that this word would finish between two of us. That madut should leave and come back with your brothers after four days. Four days came and Madut had come with Abung Kuol, Abung was a tall huge man with a good tongue and a good heart of making good decision. He was the chief mediator. Mac Joh, man of foolish jokes when people are tired after long argument. He was tasked with entertainment but made no good point. Madut Mayen was to answer back anything bad with anything bad. The rest were Bior Kuol, Mathiang Kur, Manut Biel. The group was comprised of bad and good guys to reflect the society they were coming from.

Abuk Deng came in the hut with his group that was made up of Ayen Nhial who was a good talker. She could talk as if she were a man, she became a chief mediator of Abuk and Amuor Bul, Yar Garang, Achol Mac.

After each of them sat on the mat, Madut Mayen the chief mediator cleared his throat and said “please girls, tell us your names”

“No, the person who was got in the place asks the names first, not the comer” Ayen Nhial argued. Both sides refused to tell their names first. However, Ayen has just given in and said that their names are colors that would differentiate people, there were no colors of knowing people. So Ayen introduced all the girls of their names and their relations to Abuk. Madut Mayen also introduced their names and their relation to Madut Kuol.

Of course, Madut Mayen said that, you daughters of Tiit clan, we came to your home for engagement – an engagement was the normal affair among youth – male or female.

“If we come like this in number, there was one person who led the  way to this home. This word (engagement) had started between two and had involved all of us today. Our aim was to engage Abuk”.

Ayen Nhial said that it was the plain truth, nevertheless, she had just seen Madut then and that he could not engage her sister – Abuk.

Manut Moyen said that “you said that you had not known Madut before, that was a weak excuse he said Ayen had to give a concrete reason for her objection to madut engagement to Abuk.

Madut Biel said that an engagement was one of he most important issues in our lives, so the girl should be specific. In fact, when we were coming we had two options in our minds that if we had proposed and engagement there would be rejection and admission.

Yar Garang said that she didn’t know the Madut family background whether they were good or bad and they needed to make a research first before they could admit him.

Mathiang Kur said that there were vices that people were refused, these included the evil eyedness, gluttony, theft, unended family diseases. And if you knew any of these vices they should tell them.

Amuor Bul said that most men had been hiding their vices and seemed as if they were just wise and loving, but rather they had proved bad people, and that was why you should learn one another very carefully. Last but not least, Ayen Nhial said that nothing would have been finished in one day – thus it was a day of introduction to them. The girls gave four days for the ment to come back. After four days they came back and the argument went on as fresh as it was five days earlier

At last Ayen Nhail concluded by saying that “the word has been understood, the word (engagement) between Madut and Aduk ahs been tied by a strong rope, and the two ends of the rope have been burnt short to avoid any unnecessary loosening. We (sisters) have honorably handed over the whole affair to Madut and Abuk. If the word end up in happy marriage, many thanks very much indeed to all of us. If the word stops on the path between the two families, no blame so much. It is just a youth affair.

Dr Riek Machar wanted to be the chairman of the SPLM party. And from there, he will  proceed ahead and become the President of the Republic of South Sudan. Is Riek justified in this claim? Is he legitimate to claim those rights of chairmanship of the SPLM party and Presidency of the Republic.?

No , no , hundred time no , Riek is unjustified , illegitimate , irrational in this argument .  Riek declared in 1991 that he overthrew John Garang . When this claim turned out to be hoax or  lie . Riek ran  to Khartoum and he fought against  John Garang alongside  President Bashir for 11 years .  When Riek and Bashir failed to defeat John Garang , Riek realized that Garang was winning then  , he ran  back to Garang in 2002 .

Therefore , Riek could not fight SPLM for 11 years and he claims to be the chairman of the SPLM again . , which he  fought and tried to destroy for 11 years . This is absurdity.

Riek  Machar on December 6, 2013 , declared he would cause chaos ,if he was not allowed to be the President of South Sudan . And abiding by his words, he attempted the coup on December 15 , 2013  when the coup failed , he declared the civil  war against his own people , the South Sudanese .

Therefore, Riek Machar can’t killed South Sudanese for 14 months and he claims to be their president again. This is absurdity ..

All in all Riek Machar  can’t stay in  Khartoum for 11 years and  he says , he knows somethings . Riek  is a failure in summary, he attempted the coup, and he failed. He launched the civil war on BBC World Radio on December 18, 2013, he failed to overthrow the government, he went and called United Nation to establish a Protectorate Government in South Sudan, he failed . He went to call Kenya , Ethiopia , and Sudan to invade South Sudan , he failed . Riek is failure in doing Good but he is  a success in doing Evil like the Killings  of South Sudanese .in his unjustified wars.

Dear Kur Wel kur: Nyanwut Mach, Sunnyman, A-Mac, and the Governor Rocked the Stage Last night

By Mamer Deng Jur, Australia

Sunnyman (in the cap) and Sevena The Governor

Sunnyman (in the cap) and Sevena The Governor

Makwei, I wish you were here last night at Prospect town hall, 126 Prospect Road SA, to share and cheer up the trio (Sunnyman, Governor and A- Mac) whom you had written an article about their music talents.

The night was tremendous. Supporters were all second to none! They were showing greatest support for their communities’ artist. The event took place on 21st of February 2015. The event was organized by a man called Deng Enock and his team. I think you know Deng. And a lot of thanks went to the beautiful people of the community who had directly and indirectly sponsored the program to go ahead. Especially our women, daughters, and sons who came along and cheered up these artists.

Hall

Last night was one the greatest night of its kind. It was rated by honest supporters that it was eight and half out of ten. But to me it was nine and half out of ten. I went there and thought we were going to be lectured by the professors of community who loved to talk so much of bullshits (nonsenses). I was there with some of mates, chatting outside before the program began (kick off). By twenty past nine evening, we were informed by Deng politely that, we need to go inside, because they were going to start at half past nine. We came at the door and we paid entry fees. Our hands were stamped and we were allowed to entry.

I went in and when I looked around where to sit, the hall was too small. It was a music theatre hall, there were a few chairs and round tables, which were setup and covered with white tablecloths. Even though it was small, it was very beautiful; it felt as if I was attending a dinner party. While my eyes were still shopping around for a perfect spot to sit, I saw a number of women in dresses of rainbow colours on my right hand. They dressed as if they were seated for Grammy Awards night for arts/music celebrities. Suddenly, my eyes caught a perfectly comfort zone to sit. I went there and I joined some of the guys I know.

But I didn’t know them very well to exchange conversation. I sat there and one minute was like a bloody one hour; I took out my phone to check out whether there were news on PAANLUEL WЁL. But I was warned seriously by my network provider that I have had ran out of credit to access internet. My eyes were rolling like chameleon inside the hall, wandering if I could see anyone I know but it was difficult, my eyes failed me to recognise anyone. Everyone was unrecognisable in the hall as if they (everyone) had dressed in Halloween outfits.

I went back to my phone to check the time. “Shit”! “It is half past nine, why don’t they start?” I mumbled to myself. Huh! My buttocks started to boil as if I sat on the electric stove. By half past nine, I heard a voice,“good evening ladies and gentlemen, thank you and you are highly welcomed and appreciated for coming this evening”. These words were coming from the master of ceremony (M.C). There were two M.C: Jay D (Jur Deng Jur) and his friend. They invited Deng Enock to explain why his team invited people to come and joined them tonight. The man was short and brief, ‘no beating around the bush or bullshit’! He went straight to the point that it was Nyanwut’s night to launch her new CD album.

Nyanwut Mach Nhial

Nyanwut Mach Nhial

Nyanwut Mach Nhial

The night was for my beloved sister, a cousin, Nyanwut Mach Nhial from Kolnyang Payam who was launching her music CD album for the first time. I didn’t know my sister was very good in singing. Her songs were telling a lot. She had arrived, dressed herself very well, in those beautiful dresses, but not Kanga (West African’s dress) kantaga. A dress that every Sudanese ladies want so bad to wear. She was beautiful. I wish her husband was with us today to see his beautiful wife strolling down beautifully on the stage. Oh! Well she was widow who lost her husband in the war. Her husband and other unnamed heroes fought bravely for one thing, FREEDOM for all Southerners. They enlisted and joined the army not apay, but to free us from oppression and tyranny.

I was moved by her voice when she first arrived on the stage and sung her first song. My heart was pounding, because of the emotion I felt. I was very happy, which was shown in a way that my body was shaking badly. Thanks to Lord because I was not an overweighed, otherwise if I were I would have had a stroke. My body was very cold as if I was a coward who burst into tears when he/she had heard a gun fire. She was covered by charm of supporters as if she was released from Egypt prison. I stood up unnoticed, but I found myself dancing in my spot. The dancing floor was filled by finest people showing their moves. People were very happy as if they were in the church, they were filled with joy and love. Smooth smiles rocked the night and that was the motto for the night. Trio (Sunnyman and his mates) were showing off their tremendous styles on the stages’ background. Some of them were trying glimpse of moon walk.

She disembarked the stage to be united with her happily supporters. She arrived and the entirely hall erupted into a noise as if a running gun battle had begun. In a running gun battle, number of heroes dropped like apples to the ground, and cowards would always ran backward and used the dead bodies as a covered. That night, women were second to none. They were donating their money to support our artists as if they were billionaires. But that night; we didn’t need Bill Gates or Clive Palmer because our women were these guys. Men were doing what they’re so great at, all the times, which is to sit back and talk shit!

I think many men do have allergies to make donation. It was a condition, but some of them were even willing not to pay entry fee, which was just $15. Many of them loved to wear those cheap suits and ties from Salvation Army,Thinking that everything is cheap and free. Guest what? Nothing is free in Australia, South Sudan, and worst of all; even in Heaven where everyone one day will need a strong lawyer to represent them in the court of Heaven (COH) when they will appear before Jesus and his Father (God). So please, wake up and do your bit and that is a way forward. And remember you aren’t a refugee anymore brother, if you don’t know that.

Party styles

b1

Nyanwut was accompanied by a number of artists including Deng Enock himself. She was accompanied by the followings BIG NAMES: Sunnyman, A.Mac, Governor, Akim, Amer, Aduk, Deng, Isaac, Manyok, and Athici. Sunnyman, A.Mac, and Governor championed the stage! They made ladies to disown their seats and standing up not interesting to sit down again. Once these trio were on the dancing floor. Their popularity double scores the popularity of One direction’s singers in South Sudanese community.

Floor was filled by happy and beautiful people; smell of perfumes overcame the hottest temperatures of Adelaide, South Australia. Many men and women were wearing those very special and very expensive perfumes like Gucci, Tom Ford (TM), Armani, Boss, 212 men, cult perfumes, and Angel. You can mention the rest. Thanks to God, I didn’t smell “kumura”, the North Sudanese women homemade perfume. I have no idea above the ingredients in “KUMURA”. I hate the smell of kumura badly. But no doubt, a lot of men nowadays will be forced by their wives to keep smelling kumura whether they like it or not they have to. It is do or die situation. Otherwise. To be continued……..

Dressing code from men and women was off the hook. I like it. Nowadays only few people are in jeans, especially when the summer is frying people like a burning bushland. I found out that night, many men came along with their wives, and they were not embarrassed to walk with their beautiful wives. In my opinion it was a ‘sign of civilisation’.

Master of ceremony, Jay D, was pissing off a number single guys in the hall. He was praising the mother of his three beautiful children, calling her as beautiful, in number of times. Men who shied to express their love for their wives were seated idly and muttering to one another as if they were muted. On the side of the room, I think their wives, were saying to themselves why don’t theirs men act gentleman like Jay D, and bring it on! And say those crazy words.

I felt sorry for poor men who were shut down and locked into the houses with their children, to do those very easy task; changing nappies, feeding, cooking, washing, bathing, sweeping and be ready to be punched in the face by the kids. While their wives came to the party to cheer up their girlfriends, “to get fresh air”. Men would deal with the kids whom they are not used to, because they are always away playing games with their friends.

One day lock-down for some men felt like being locked up in Guantanamo bay. Family responsibilities are very hot like critical national issues needed by the citizens to be solved as soon as possible. Otherwise you may face a leadership spill like Tony Abbott. Once that challenge has had been passed, you would look to your shoulder for someone to blame. To be short, Tony Abbott had blamed government’s whip – Philip Ruddock for failing to inform him of the disinterest of the party’s members.

Conclusion

Therefore Kurwel Kur, your article have had promoted these trio (Sunnyman, A.Mac, Governor). Their music will change our community attitudes and perception. Theirs music will change our youth into better responsible people in the future. We are very tired of those African American lyrics. African Americans’ music is violence and filthy. Our South Sudanese artists are the best, above all. Our women and girls were very supportive and I do encourage them to keep up the momentum of joy, love, and the unity. I hope they will do a lot in their power to train and school many men to learn to donate.

It is not a crime to make a donation. I do know one State for sure, Victoria, Melbourne. Begging is illegal under the Summary Offences Act in Victoria. If you are caught doing the practice you are punished. But don’t be scared there is difference between donation and begging. If men are very flexible to give boring speeches in communities’ meetings, then they should be flexible to donate. This is a thumb principle, like slogan in legal circles that “like cases should be treated alike”.

I was just waking up!

The High Life of Juba’s Hai Amarat Politicians

Posted: February 24, 2015 by PaanLuel Wël Media Ltd. in Featured Articles, Malith Alier

By Malith Alier, Juba

hai amarat

Hai Amarat or “suburb of skyscrapers” is where the life of the government officials is modelled. Since time of great Abel Alier, which no one acknowledges, the important suburb of Juba has spacious compounds with lush vegetation. It adorns paved roads for the smooth running of the SUVs and V8s which are symbols of power and opulence. In South Sudan the few other people who drive V8s besides government officials are admired for hard work or other techniques in acquiring for themselves are their families this machines of comfort.

I have visited Hai Amarat on a number of occasions however; many can be forgiven for not living there. Even some women of politicians who stay there have been heard denouncing other parts of Juba City as mere villages inhabited by the less educated and less civilised. To them, an ideal life starts and ends in Amarat!

Hai Amarat has everything that makes life comfortable in the modern sense of living. It has running water, electricity and of cause permanent houses surrounded by block fencing with razor wire to keep away intruders or fence jumpers. Great but was this privileged area made what it is by whom and on whose expense?

haiamarat

It is rumoured that the High executive Council (HEC) under Abel Alier had no budget like Government of Southern Sudan instituted after CPA. In those days there were no petrodollars in the Sudan. The discovery of oil around 1978 by an American company called Chevron changed that forever. The current multimillion super rich politicians are the true beneficiaries of that god’s gift.

That aside, the HEC managed to build so much with so little and the current Amarat is that so much constructed with so little. At that time corruption is was simply unheard of or missing in the lexicon of the primitive South.

Hai Amarat has become an area of choice for everyone who happened to be accommodated there. Those accommodated guys have forgotten the free houses there are meant for the serving government officials and whoever happens to have been accommodate should vacate once removed from the position he/she held. Perhaps it is the same government who does not instruct those would be residents of Amarat that they leave once the term of service in the government is over. As we speak, those in the bush fighting the government still have their accommodation intact on their names except the rebel leader whose residence is purported to have been destroyed during the wee hours of the rebellion.

One very important observation about Amarat is that those politicians who are there seem to adorn young faces. However, a stark contrast emerged on the behest of the crisis. Within few days after running away from Juba, the rebel leader Riek Machar looked a ghost of his former young self. He looked grey and wrinkled and so was Pagan Amuom and the list is long. Many people agreed with this observation. This also observation speaks more about others remaining there who are well-groomed but are past the age of black hair and baby face.

amarat

The secret to all this is what is called impression management. People go to greater lengths to over apply make ups like hair dye and wrinkle reducers like botox. The sad fact is that it is all on the public expense since nobody accounts for anything in South Sudan. Corruption has so many faces. One of those faces is as small as using little government assets for personal good. Corruption further has so many colours and one of those colours is painting your hair black which is otherwise too grey to deceive people so that one continues to receive favours like youth. Example is to continue in the art of seducing young girls otherwise your great grand children.
