July 22, 2016 (SSB) — Dr. Riek Machar has dismissed Taban Deng Ghai from the SPLM-IO and also removed him from the ministry of Mining. This comes a day after the SPLM-IO politburo reportedly dismissed Riek from the position of the 1st Vice President and replaced him with Taban Deng Ghai.

It also comes within 12 hours since President Kiir issued a 48-hour ultimatum for Riek Machar to report back to Juba for work or risk replacement.

This scenario reminds one of what happened during the time of the Nasir group. By then, Kerubino Kuanyin and William Nyuon had a bitter fallout with Riek Machar.

They dismissed Riek from the Nasir group and declared themselves the new leaders, claiming previous seniority from Mother SPLM/A. Riek Machar in turn dismissed them from the party and from their respective positions.

Deng Athuai Mawiir Rehan, chairman of South Sudanese civil society alliance

July 22, 2016 (SSB) — This is the first time in years and months and after the depose of the former Chairman of the Alliance, Deng Athuai Mawiir that the Alliance organised such rally against proposed African Union intervention force for South sudan.

This author predicted in an article published in 2014 with the title, South Sudan Civil Society Alliance: When an Apology is no Apology; that the incoming Alliance leadership would not be up to the task after the departure of the first chair mentioned above.

Deng Athuai Mawiir was a latter day Dr. John Garang de Mabior when it comes to articulating rights of the civil society compared to the current leadership. The present Alliance had abandoned the norms and principles it supposed to stand for.

President Kiir and VPs Kiir, Machar and Igga addressing the Media via SSBC inside presidential palace now as gunfire continue in Juba

July 22, 2016 (SSB) — As time goes by, extremely troubling details are emerging from what happened in and around the State House in Juba over a week ago. The scene of devastation and unexploded ordnances lying around the presidential compound are indications that a vicious battle took place there. It is a scene that an ordinary person would expect to see on a battlefield, but not within the vicinity of a presidential palace.

According to CCTV reporter, “it is an extraordinary tale.” It is a tale that betrays the madness which has always accompanied Riek Machar’s search for power in South Sudan. But what is even more extraordinary in the eyewitness—President Kiir—account is that the First Vice President was carrying a pistol, a gun. The simple question to ask in this situation is, “why he carried a gun?” It is a legitimate question for South Sudanese and foreigners alike to ask. But before we try to answer this question, let us take a look at how senior government officials are protected in the world.

July 22, 2016 (SSB) — It is two weeks now after the fatal incident around the Presidential palace in Juba. Calm has returned to the city and everyone seems to be back to normal business including Juba University where students will have their Examinations starting today.

However, major debates have focused on the proposed “Military Intervention” by foreign troops in South Sudan. Citizens have sprung to life, after the dollar stampede, to demonstrate against this proposed intervention when there are over 12,000 soldiers and police serving for the UN in the country.

kiiRiek, enough for the cameras

July 22, 2016 (SSB) — This essay will focus on pre-independent and post –independent period `, on how South Sudanese lost the sense of patriotism and nationalism through SPLM leadership due their autocratic mean of ruling than the promises they used to said and their denounce of the Arabs ruled as totalitarian regime that imposed Sharia law and Arab cultures on South Sudanese and this actually moved hearts of many people to follows the SPLM visions. The emerge of SPLM with charismatic leader like “Dr. John Garang” made the vision of Sudan people liberation movement sound louder and dominated whole Sudan because of democracy ideology which is total zero today .

After the death of Dr. John Garang De Mabior (Moses), Salva Kiir became the president of southern Sudan and first vice president of Sudan during transitional period of comprehensive peace agreement, and secretary general Pagan Amum usually used to say our Joshua referring to Salva Kiir as the one to lead New Sudan into the Promised Land. Vision for our forefather left without being accomplished due the sad helicopter crashed that led to his death and this left New Sudan in dilemma until now.
