April 2, 2017 (SSB) — Our country, blessed with abundant natural resources, has been badly and intentionally plunged into a senseless, destructive and escalating conflict for over 3 and half years now. The crisis which started as a power struggle/wrangle in their own house has put the country into the state of uncertainty and later ethnicised.

Many precious lives and properties including the minimal infrastructures put in place are devastated. Some of our major towns of South Sudan have been completely destroyed and are now ghost towns. Several attempts to end this civil strife remain futile. The 2015 ARCISS which is/was believed to have been a way out and forward, in the words of the international community, is partially being implemented or that there is no progress in the implementation process.

Will South Sudan Prepare 2017/2018 Financial Year Budget Timely?

April 2, 2017 (SSB) — Before, we proceed we should define what actually is meant by the term “budget” in a nation – Individuals or families also have their budgets and so are organisations.

A budget is a financial forecast of expected revenues and where these revenues will be spent. An individual, organisation and or a state raises and spends its income over a period of twelve month technically known as financial year.

South Sudan since the interim period 2005 – 2011 had been preparing a budget of some kind. This budget happened to be irregular in nature of preparation and implementation. Initially, the financial year used to run from January to December until change occurred shortly after independence. A new financial year runs from July 1^st – June 30^th.

April 2, 2017 (SSB) — In recent time, the news of the Ruweng State has dominated all media outlets. The whole story began with Taban ordering the former Governor of Ruweng State, Hon. Theji Da Adwad Deng, so that he secures the land of Ruweng people for him and implements his other orders as I have explained in my previous two articles on Ruweng State and her people.

Since then, things had moved very first, the president had fired governor Theji, the Governor of the people of Ruweng replacing him with the governor of Taban Deng Gai. Mr. Tem Machar.  However, as it has been reported by Radio Tamazuji the removal of Theji and appointment of Tem Machar made hundreds of citizens of Ruweng State both in the State and in Juba, staged protests against President Kiir’s decree removing the governor of Ruweng state.

April 2, 2017 (SSB) —- Today, I want to write a short note to congratulate my uncle and a friend, Daniel Ajith-mapiou de Garang-reehdit de Bior Deng Aguer, aka Daniel Bior on his graduation yesterday, 30/3/2017 for a Master’s of Economic Policy and Planning from Kampala University. Though a little late, he has finally journeyed to the desired destination regardless of the rude interruption of his education by war years back.

I have to tell people a bit about uncle Ajith because he has been an inspiration to me throughout my life.

Courtesy of late kwarkwar Amos Ajangthi de Biorthi de Deng Aguer, uncle Ajith started his education at Pageer (Piom e Duonytung) Primary school in 1979 at the age of six (6). Up on his December 1978 Holiday visit from the United States, Ajangthi advised kwarkwar Garangdit to take Ajith to school immediately regardless of his age. Kwarkwar Garangdit was a bit hesitant given the fact that he lost his older sons, Ajang, Bior and Aguer and Ajith being the possible heir of the family, he needed to be kept within the house-hood.

March 31, 2017 (SSB) —- In this article I would like to congratulate Yar Majak Arol Kachuol who made me proud for waiting until she completed her degree and getting married as she and her parents want.

I would therefore like to say congratulation to her for killing two births with one stone.  She has gone through modern education and at the same time getting married in accordance with traditional way which makes her parents proud.

Accepting to be married in traditional way in which parents ‘ decisions is the centre to the choice of husband for a bride and bridegroom, Yar has proved that education for girls is not bad as many people think.

April 2, 2017 (SSB) — Tycoon Garang was the first richest man South Sudan has ever had during the virgin days of Juba, his wealth were as holy as his name, thus, he wholeheartedly bought the former famous Cinema of Sudan and gave it to Dinka congregation of ECS as their Temple.

They later renamed it as ”Emmanuel Jieng Parish.” Garang unlike other Earth-motivated tyrants who signs mouth-watering cheques and throw valve eight (V8) lucrative car keys into whores’ undies in order to unlock their bearded-trenches became not only a man of God but also a great person a community relied on.

In Christmas’s eve of 2008 a man by the names of Majok Yor was seeking an appointment with Garang Deng and after numerous setbacks he’s one day called by the office secretary “Ya Majuk kede tali bahd zaman fothur,” he said. And Majok on the other hand responded positively.

April 2, 2017 (SSB) — The what I can called self-government of the Republic of South Sudan seems to be reside with the administrative operatives of the government and not in the people, this government is being run as private business institution with first choice for some and bad feeling for others and no effort is being made to synchronize South Sudanese from the grass root level.

The policy of the administrative operative’s government of South Sudan seems to be that of segregation and decree; the more people are divided from the proletariat and are at daggers and overwrought against each other. These are the conditions existing in this country which are against the ideology of democracy which is the unmistakable where some people take law into their own hands by threatening and obliteration of people life whenever you attempt to say whatever you have seen wrong.

April 2, 2017 (SSB) — The Ruweng community in Canada oppose the deployment of SPLA/M/IO officials in Ruweng State, for this tactical manoeuvre by the government of South Sudan initiates internal division and conflict within Ruweng State.

The natives of Ruweng State are predominantly affiliated to SPLA/M since the inception of this movement; they scarified their blood and resources for the cause of unity, freedom, and prosperity. As a result, the injection of SPLA/M/IO political machine into the political affairs of Ruweng State is offsetting the values of oneness and wellbeing of the people of Ruweng State.

The tragicomedy of the South Sudanese politics: SPLM-IG vs SPLM-IO

April 2, 2017 (SSB) — There is something brewing in South Sudan and for the Frist Vice President Taban Deng Gai to put his interest above the country’s interest will create an existential crisis in the nation. However, majority of South Sudanese including myself believe that the power to destroy a nation is not the lesson of President Kiir Mayardit’s Presidency.

But the really question in the head of every Ruweng people is, is the First Vice President Taban Deng Gai’s lesson here to destroy a nation? Nevertheless, when the newsbreak out in Juba the majority of Ruweng people were very excited about the appointment of Governor Theji De Adwad Deng and assumed that it would only strengthen our relationship with the FVP Taban.

Moreover, having relationship with the FVP Taban seems to have had the opposite effect on Ruweng people’s lives ever since. I know that living with the FVP Taban can be difficult and I anticipated an argument over years we spend together under his leadership in Unity State was hell difficult. But as of yet, we have not had any issues for Mr. Taban being the FVP of South Sudan, but the issue the people of Ruweng are having now Mr. President is the authority you give him to operate freely.

Somalization of South Sudan as Foreign Interests Overrides Peace and Stability in the Country

April 2, 2017 (SSB) — The IGAD, regional body charged with the peace process in South Sudan, AU, the Troika and the International community has the ability to bring about lasting peace in the Republic of South Sudan.

However, interests of various stakeholders seem to be above the peace and stability in South Sudan and the interests and aspirations of the South Sudanese people. The United States of America, the country that supported the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the ultimate cessation of the Republic of South Sudan has the ability to bring peace and stability in the country.

Conversely, the US has taken South Sudan like one of its overseas state and want to drive the country to suite its interest and means to consolidate its dominance in the region and of course on the people of South Sudan and indeed the rest of Africa—a move clearly demonstrated by all American Administration in Washington DC.
