April 12, 2017 (SSB) — Academics have written books on topics such as why nations fail or peace fail. These scholarly works try to delve into roots causes by their authors going into histories of specific areas while others examine case studies of recent times and dealing with particular countries or regions of the world, for instance.

Such findings naturally come out with what they say are the main causes. Those researchers also give recommendations on what could be done to right the situation under reviews. Opinions on their conclusions are not, as expected, universally endorsed. And that is not our concern here.

This tantalizing title does not claim to belong, by approach, to those works distilled from careful research. The concern of this article and those which will follow is to look at our society, its current problems and how they can be tackled successfully, in the long run, from a common sense perspective. I lay no claim to being an expert or an authority in any field that I will touch on.

April 12, 2017 (SSB) — Before I embark on the subject of this article as stated in the title, I would like to make the following observations: firs of all, I have for the time being ceased writing on negative politics in South Sudan, this is because of two reasons:

The first reason is that I have concluded project on politics with the article which I am responding to in this work, whose title shall be reinstated later in this work. Secondly, I have accepted the advice of Uncle, General Daniel Awet Akot who I respected so much for his role in creating the history of South Sudan. He advised to stop writing on politics for a while as the country is facing serious problems.

However, this ground is not convincing to me nonetheless, I have still accepted his advice on another ground. I accepted his advice to stop writing on politics because of the fact that the Office of the President has found out that I am related to him and it will be bad if I continue attacking the system yet he is working in that office.

April 12, 2017 (SSB) — If there is anything that intrigues me most then it is the politics of South Sudan. What I do not understand complete is the line demarcating community and the government. Majority of the people have completely failed to understand that government is not based on communities but rather it is an independent entity that is independent even from the president. In other words, it appears that politics is never understood well.

By convention, politics is the process of making decisions applying to all members of each group. More narrowly, it refers to achieving and exercising positions of governance  organized control over a human community, particularly a state. Furthermore, politics is the study or practice of the distribution of power and resources within a given community (this is usually a hierarchically organized population) as well as the interrelationship(s) between communities.

The ideal transformative essence of education is missing in South Sudan

The ideal aims of education are to transform the country politically, economically, and socially for the common good of all.

April 12, 2017 (SSB) — All over the world, the aims of education try to spell out what exactly the nation intends to achieve through its structured education system. In the light of this, education remains an important tool which has multifaceted purposes that can transform the society and its entire citizens.

This is so because education has multiple purposes which can contribute to the survival of man and its surrounding environment. Farrant (1964) points out that “educational aims can be perceived at different levels and considered in terms of personal development including intellectual and spiritual growth, vocational preparation in terms of necessary practical skills and character qualities, and social training in which young people are initiated into society at local and national levels.”

This is very true and can lead us to believe that the most compelling evidence of education is that its development begins from individual, society, and the nation levels with more emphasis on the spiritual, intellectual, and social-well-being.

April 12, 2017 (SSB) — Syria is the country currently in the minds of humanity: big or small, young or old, poor or rich, black or white. It’s not for the right reasons; it is for the worst reasons and occurrences that can occur in human existence.

Before the onset of the war, most people did not either know a country called Syria existed and if they did, not many knew where.

The happenings in Syria are possible in any other country in the world, South Sudan included. We all know the black history of South Sudan. Starting from the time of our forefathers to our fathers and now extending to us, with a great fear of it reaching our future innocent children.
