The current state of RSS

August 8, 2016 (SSB) — We, the citizens of South Sudan welcome the strategic decision by the Government to accept the deployment of  regional protection force, We also have the reservations and we set 3 preconditions for accepting the  deployment of  foreign forces on our soil .

The Constitution of South Sudan gives the government its duties as the government of the people and it also gives the citizens their duties as the citizens of the country who  make up the state.

As a duty of good citizens of any Republic is to defend the territorial integrity and state sovereignty of her  or his country from internal or external threat  or any act of aggression , we did that,  when we  demonstrated on the streets  rejecting  any foreign intervention or invasion .

August 8, 2016 (SSB) — Before I get into what I want to write, I would first like to preface this article with few remarks. I will begin by thanking the First Vice President H.E Gen. Stephen Taban Deng Gai and the entire SPLM-IO political bureau membership for choosing hope over despair; peace and congeniality not a boomerang of war; rebuilding a prosperous country not destruction of the  country, to continue implementing the armistice contrary to what is on Riek Machar’s mind.

This is a great marque decision ever and it will go down the history of this great nation as one of the most momentous event. Though some political and tribal antagonists are firing brads and drats against this decision and branding the SPLM-IO members under Gen. Taban as Machiavellian schemers, I personally believe that it is a right decision taken at the best interest of peace and harmony and many South Sudanese have applauded it irrespective of their political affiliations and ethnicities.

It is very courageous and steadfast decision with one aim of living up to the peace agreement for South Sudanese to live in harmony and peaceful co-existence once again.

unity of nuer and dinka

August 8, 2016 (SSB) — Behind firmly closed doors, South Sudan independence, where economics activities are directed toward National interest, was seen as a threat. A threat to whom? Well, in this World, in case you don’t know, there are wolves; the Multinational corporations. These Corporations are the proponents of globalisation. They are the ones which run the affairs of the most powerful countries. Their interests are not about people or humanity but profits.

Therefore, the presumption with the so-called friends of South Sudan was that an independent South Sudan was to be used as an open market. A market where its resources would be extracted and used for the interest of the Corporations. Such a plan, in my view, killed John Garang! The wolves knew that John would have been a hard nut to crack. However, President Kiir Mayardit has become another hard head leader. So, in their views, President Kiir must be unseated or kill because his government has rejected the plan. This is the reason why South Sudan was programmed into a war.

In the book, ‘Understanding Power: The Indispensable Chomsky’ (2005); edited by Peter R. Michell and John Schoeffel, Noam Chomsky revealed that “the main commitment of the United States, internationally in the Third World, must be to prevent the rise of nationalist regimes which are responsive to pressures from the masses of the population for improvement in low living standards and diversification of production; the reason is, we have to maintain a climate that is conducive to investment, and to ensure conditions which allow for adequate repatriation of profits to the West”.

South Sudanese at the Olympic game, Rio, Brazil

August 8, 2016 (SSB) — As over 200 countries converge on Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics Games, there is one country that has never been there before and that country is the Republic of South Sudan. The historic appearance of South Sudan in the world’s most populous and biggest event came after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) accepted it as its 206th member nation in August 2015 in Kuala Lumpur.

Many South Sudanese around the world who were fortunate to see their country’s flag passing through the magnificent Maracanã Stadium during the opening ceremony, would have been filled with mix emotions; considering how far their country has come and the resilience of their athletes.

Participating in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio give South Sudanese something to celebrate under one banner (the flag) since December 2013 when the country went back to war against itself. One would hope that South Sudanese stop in-fighting for a moment and observe this historic occasion.

communique from IGAD

August 8, 2016 (SBB) — After the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the IGAD Plus held a Summit meeting on 5th August 2016 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to deliberate on the worrying situation of South, the communique that was issued finally released the “genie out of the bottle”, the deployment of regional protection force to South Sudan with a mandate of:

1) Protection of vulnerable civilians including foreign dignitaries and nation’s political leaders whose security is not seen to be guaranteed by the state.

2) Protection of key installations (e.g., Juba Airport and Nimule Highway) to be conducted jointly with TGoNU authorised security units.

  1. Revitalisation and reinforcement of permanent ceasefire and security arrangements as stipulated in the August 2015 Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (ARCSS).
  2. Collaboration and coordination with the UNMISS peacekeeping forces in order to accomplish the protection mission as effectively as possible.

The language expressed in the 21-points of Communique resolutions is very strong diplomatically.

August 8, 2016 (SSB) — I wonder how I can differentiate ‘YES or NO’ in South Sudan! A human being should stand in his/her YES for yes and No for no. My President, I wish I had a God miracle today, (6th/Aug/2016) then I would have appeared in your palace and condensed you into child side and I start beating seriously.

Even when I was watching news, if you were to be nearby I would have lost self-control and slap you extremely to show my disappointment over the return of the team which you dispatched to attend African summit in Addis Ababa for the negotiation of foreign intervention to South Sudan.

Even if you didn’t go to Addis Abba, they were working under your directives. HOW MANY TIMES WILL YOU DO THIS TO SOUTH SUDANESE?
