Scapegoating and Parental Negligence: Have South Sudanese exported their mess to Australia

January 6, 2018 (SSB) — Shocking news have been coming from Australian media about a gang of youngsters on rampage vandalization, majority of which are said to be South Sudanese, this has triggered a war of words between the Australian authorities and community leaders who are on the defense of what they perceived as tainting of their image for the crime they are not responsible for.

The puzzle here is that, those gangs got parents/guardians there in Australia, if decency still got a place in our values, who else can be blamed for child misconducts apart from a very parent of the child? Instead of swallowing the shame of being irresponsible parents, get together and devise means of curbing that crime, the very parents have chosen to take a path of denial and scapegoating as if the world is insane to believe in their lies; when did the application of rule of law become a xenophobic act?

Sayed Bona Malwal: A Sudanese Desperately Dreaming of Re-Annexing South Sudan

By Justice Deng Biong Mijak, Juba, South Sudan

Bona Malwal

Bona Malwal Madut, Advisor to President Bashir of the Sudan

January 6, 2018 (SSB) —- Recently, Sayed Bona Malwal held a press conference in Khartoum on December, 4th, 2017, where he said, inter alia, that Abyei is part of Sudan and that it has never been claimed neither by the SPLM nor by South Sudan. Those utterances angered people of Abyei and other South Sudanese who described them as not only irresponsible from an elder but amounted to a betrayal to South Sudan national interest. Abyei people expected me, as in charge of Abyei file in the South Sudan Government, and other leaders who hail from the Area to immediately respond to Sayed Bona utterances.

Some radicals even went as far as accusing us of having chosen silence in order to maintain our positions in Government despite the fact that they know Sayed Bona is not formally part of the Government of South Sudan. But since Sayed Bona was saying neither the SPLM nor GOSS has ever claimed Abyei as part of South Sudan, we preferred responses to come from the SPLM Party, the official Government spokesman or from the President’s press secretary since Sayed Bona mentioned H.E. President Salva Kiir in name in his audio clip.

Since there is no official response so far, I am offering this personal response by virtue of being a citizen of this country and a member of the SPLM Party, hoping the official response will later shed more light and clarify some serious allegations made by Sayed Bona.

January 6, 2018 (SSB) — In the past 24 hours, a document has been circulating on social media about Gen. Paul Malong allegedly “agreeing with the opposition to topple the government”. Allegedly, a meeting was convened and all covert plans were conveniently spelt out for everybody to hear. The funny thing is that the people who ghost-wrote the false document didn’t even bother to check in with the leadership of the South Sudan Students Union in Kenya. They simply concocted names and put them as signatories to the document.

Well, now the REAL South Sudan Students Union leadership has come out with a press statement refuting the bogus document attributed to their institution. I was truly impressed by their Secretary General Mr. Tito Awen Bol who signed off with his own contact details. That is a genuine person who can be reached at any time and who indicates that he is ready to stand by his statement, unlike the ghost-authors of the bogus document.

“The  Former defunct Lakes State is ailing, the malady  stems  from  the  pervasive    inter-communal violence  due  to  the  persistent  cattle  raiding and a  cycle  of  revenge  killings  over the  last 10 years and  the  most  virulent  cause  of  all – the  limited rule  of  law  or  the  absence  of rule of law in the State.”

Deputy minister for information, Akol Paul Khordit

January 6, 2018 (SSB) — December 6-8 2017 has been a period where Pakam-Rup feud resulted to a loss of nearly 200 innocent lives including the ones of vulnerable people, properties destroyed and a thousand of people displaced in an inter-communal fight in Rumbek, Western Lakes State (WLS).

Notwithstanding the strongest condemnation from all citizens of Rumbek and other South Sudanese citizens at large, the WLS specter has at last pierced the conscience of Hon. Akol Paul Kordit prompting him to write a timely and most welcomed genuine letter by citizens of WLS and other concerned South Sudanese on December 8 2017 addressed to President of the Republic H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit asking him to quickly and decisively act.

Naath university students in Uganda organize a Farewell party for 2016, 2017 Graduates

January 6, 2018 (SSB) — On behalf of students in Zimbabwe and my own behalf, I would like to clarify and explain fully the position taken by South Sudanese students from 4 Universities of Midlands State University, Great Zimbabwe University, Chinhoyi University of Technology and Harare Institutes of Technology on the issue pertaining to our tuition, residents and feeding fees.

It was in February 2015 we arrived to Zimbabwe’s Universities mentioned above and National University of Science & Technology included on government scholarship. The government of South Sudan has been doing well until 2016 when some delayed of fees payment occurred which mostly affected students from 2 Universities of National University of Science & Technology and Harare Institutes of Technology while the other three Universities are cooperating well with their students in terms of service provision and lectures on the same note.
